This version of Theoden is similar to Theoden, The Renowned. But I definitely like the strength bonus of Ednew a lot, and then with a spear and a javelin you have a 12 strength companion which isn’t bad.
The resistance bonus isn’t so great, unless you use G for Grand (which is actually a nice combo, since you need Gandalf to trigger it all).
The damage bonus is a nice simple ability, but not too useful since the horses already exert the minion and most weapons give damage bonuses.

Neat card, but he is a little humble compared to Theoden, Northman, King of Rohan from RoS. But, this could be the last set, so why complain?
Cool abilities. I’d use him.
A 4 from me. |
I had to put something here. |

I suspect other versions will prove a little better, but Theoden, Ednew is definitely worth trying out. 4. |

From the Encyclopedia of Arda:
Ednew
An Old English word meaning ’renewed’ or ’restored’. It was used as a title for Théoden of Rohan after Gandalf cured him of the malign influence of Saruman and the poisonous lies of Saruman’s agent Gríma Wormtongue. Before Gandalf’s intervention, the King had been become no more than a decrepit old man, but after his ’renewal’, he led his people on to great victories in the War of the Ring before his death on the battlefield of the Pelennor. |

Yeah, I’m with the norm. Awesome in some decks, inferior to other versions in other decks. But a solid 4. I DO like the synergy between Gandalf and Rohan that this card and Erkenbrand’s Shield are encouraging. |
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones
Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

I like him, nice aternative to Theoden, the Renowned. Too bad he’s not valiant, but he works great with Haleth, Son of Hama. |
