Give it up, AD. You're a terrible DC maker.

I came up with an idea for a new set, and I’m gageing interest.
So: should I do a DC set based on The Children of Hurin?

Give it a go.

There are too many sets running around, but hey. That’s not a bad thing.

I would like to see it, but I wouldn’t pay much attention to it until I’ve read the book.

And, embarassingly, I forgot it was out! I’ll get it tonight!

My only question would be how you sort out the problem of there not being a One Ring until a few millennia afterwards! How could you have a Ring-bearer? How would the game even make sense?
You could use Beren (or Luthien) as a Ring-bearer, or rather, a Silmaril-bearer, but then it’s a whole new game!

Instead of the One Ring, there would be The Curse of Morgoth, or something to that effect, but it would work pretty much the same. Survive 9 sites. "Ring-Bearer" becomes "hero", or something like that, generally Turin. Might have Nienor as an alternate, but probably not.

Silmaril-Bearer would be cool.

But there’s no Silmarils in the book. Beren and Luthien are barely mentioned, for that matter, given their prominence in Middle Earth at the time.

You’re right, but Narn i Hin Hurin was also in the Unfinished Tales (though less of it) and still takes place in the First Age, and that’s why I suggested the silmarils.
My problem with the Curse of Morgoth for Turin (or anyone, for that matter) is what’s the issue about the bearer of it dying? Big deal, that’s one less cursed guy to worry about!
I think it would make more sense, if you were going to do it at all, to do a whole First Age themed game (because it is effectively a new game) and use the Silmarillion as a basis, instead of just the Children of Hurin. Then you can have a problem with the person carrying the Silmaril from dying, because it’s actually a serious issue.
I’d be interested to see a First Age game, so give it a go, if you want.

Haven’t read it and likely won’t have time for a while, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t review cards. Smile Give it a go, my friend.
