--- description ---
Need a quick deck with cards not that expensive? Here’s a good idea with Boros for those players new to Magic or with a low budget.
--- end description ---
With this deck, you can control any combat when you did not make it to extinguish your opponent in about turn three or four. The key to victory in this pretty funny deck(I have not that much expensive cards, but this deck exists in that form and is very well working) are Boros Swiftblade, Blazing Shoal(from the BoK-Expansion) and the Bringer of the Red Dawn(Fifth Dawn). On turn 2, drop a swiftblade. Then, turn three might hold the key to victory if a red Bringer and a Blazing Shoal are in your hand. Still didn’t get it? Well, remove the Bringer from your Hand for the Shoal, then your Boros Swiftblade becomes a 10 / 2 creature with double strike(! !), that’s lethal in most cases and most sure in turn 3. This is the fastest way to kill with this deck, but don’t think that’s everything!
No, this deck can control the battles against strong power creature decks or opponents who are not willing to die(just in game, of course!!!). If things don’t get the way they should be, go on dropping your flyer and equip them with Sunforger. This crazy Artifact is pretty good to nerve your opponents who started too fast with ugly creatures(like a Platin Angel with Lightning Greaves, for example; you know what I mean). Unattach the Sunforger in case of a heavy attack to pull out your Master Warcraft from your deck before he declares the Attackers, so that you can declare there will be no attack or an attack with a creature you could destroy(Platin Angel?). Get your Master Warcrafts back with Junktroller, to have every time at least one in your deck to search for. But you won’t have to do this often. After all your buddys gain flying thanks to Concerted efford, there’s only few your opponent could do.
Decklist
Creatures:(18 )
2x Bringer of the Red dawn
2x Agrus Kos, Wojek veteran
4x Boros Swiftblade
4x Flame-Kin Zealot
2x Junktroller
4x Skynight Legionaire
Artifacts:(6)
2x Sunforger
2x Loxodon Warhammer
2x Sensei’s Divining Top
Sorcery/ Instant:(13)
4x Blazing Shoal
3x Steelshaper’s Gift
2x Lightning Helix
2x Brightflame
2x Master Warcraft
Enchantment:(3)
3x Concerted Effort
Lands:(22)
8x Plains
8x Mountain
4x Sacred Foundry(alternative 2xPlains, 2xMountain or somethig else)
2x Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion(Double strike rulZ! )
Sideboard:(Just a proposal)
3x Scour
1x Razia, Boros Archangel
1x Master Warcraft
2x Kiki - Jiki, Mirrorbraker(Copy Flame-Kin Zealot with this guy!)
4x Ethereal haze
4x Boros Fury shield
Note: Putting two additional lands in a deck can improve your land drawings on your opening hand while Sensei’s Divinig Top can put them back somewhere deeper into the library in case if they are not needed later in the game.
Make it quick! And don’t worry about guys countering too much. If they counter too much they lose time; drop a bringer or Razia(if not used for Blazing Shoal). Agrus Kos can also help
I haven’t met any deck resisting long to the permanent attacks of the Boros, so don’t fear the Dimir and join the Legion today! |

1) I think you mean platinum angel
2) Why not make this deck standard? It's so very close to being standard, and you could perhaps do some damage wit this against standard. By playing extended, you're throwing it to the wolves. Steelshapers gift and bringer of red aside, this deck already is standard.
3) Using a cheap trample-giving card would be much better than argus kos. Either that or master warcraft
4) Use myojin of red. Remove him for +enough to kill them when you have a double striker/0 when you use blazing shoal.
5) One drop? Maybe a lava spike or shock etc.
6) Don't say "just a proposal" for sideboard. As the writer, you should know a good sideboard, and suggest one. Of course it really is just a proposal, but it doesn't make you sound confidant when you say so.
7) Got any ways to dodge counterspells?
As long as you fix these mostly minor issues, you have a very good deck, and if you use the alternative to foundrys, it's on a very tight budget! Some very nice ideas, just make sure you get those kinks out before you publish next time. |

Ditto on the moving to standard thing
in Standard you'd have a good chance with a decent starting 7.
in Extended you'll be ripped apart by the fact that Extended's card pool is sheer power compared to Standard's and one-hit kills are common in the decks present there. Did I also mention they have access to the best countermagic and disruption from the last 7 years too?
It looks like flying and double strike are the only abilities your creatures can share -- is it worth the 3 concentrated efforts? What are you going to do, give a juntroller or bringer double strike? The Zealot is un-synergistic with Concentrated Effort because you'd want to play him for his ability during your main phase, by when the Effort will already have triggered. |
