With the return of the Free Peoples Choice Awards, I’ll be conducting a couple unique contests over the next several days and weeks as a sort of celebration. There will be awards for the winners of these contests in the FPCA itself, but perhaps more importantly, there will also be card prizes for the winners!
This is the first such contest. Anyone is welcome to enter, whether you plan on voting in the FPCA or not. There is no entry fee or anything, just a prize: a FOIL Sam, Bearer of Great Need!
So, here’s what you need to do. Design a deck (Standard or Expanded format: your choice) that has a fellowship with at least THREE Ring-bearers. No, I don’t mean three people bearing the Ring, but three that COULD. For example, you could use any Frodo as your RB, which would make for one of the three, and then throw in, say, Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation and Faramir, Bearer of Quality. Of course, if you use those three, you’ll probably lose, because they don’t make for a very good fellowship. Design a deck with three RBs/ARBs that could actually WORK, one that makes sense and could stand a chance if you played with it. There’s potential there, believe it or not.
Design a full FP side, AND a Shadow side to go with it. Other than having the trio of (potential) Ring-bearers, I’m not putting any other restrictions on it, but remember: you’re competing and this WILL be voted on in the end. Needlees to say, a description of WHY you chose the cards you did, matchups, etc. will help your chances immensely. So put some thought into it, and Sam may be yours.
As I said, anyone is welcome to give it a try, and you don’t even have to let me know you will or will not participate until the second you send the deck (preferrably via PM). Just make sure that second comes by this Friday at midnight (EST), because that’s the deadline.
Have fun!
Special thanks to AP for letting me bounce ideas off him for this. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

One entry’s in already, and it’s NOT from NBarden.
Only three days to go! Who wants Sam, Bearer of Great Need the most? |

I have a cool idea with some T&D cards. I’ll try to make the deck and strategy and match-ups and send it in soon.

As a thought, an easy-access list for those who need it :
Must have at least three of the following (* = only allowed one of these, and it must be the Ring-bearer, E = Expanded only):
Frodo, Weary From the Journey (*)
Frodo, Protected by Many (*)
Frodo, Resolute Hobbit (*)
Frodo, Wicked Masster! (*)
Frodo, Hope of Free Peoples (*)
Frodo, Master of the Precious (*E)
Frodo, Tired Traveller (*E)
Frodo, Courteous Halfling (*E)
Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer (*E)
Frodo, Son of Drogo (*E)
Frodo, Old Bilbo’s Heir (*E)
Faramir, Bearer of Quality
Sam, Bearer of Great Need
Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation
Bilbo, Bearer of Things Burgled
Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms
Boromir, Bearer of Council
Smeagol, Bearer of Great Secrets
Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom
Gimli, Bearer of Grudges
Let me know if I missed any. Deck to come soon. |
Our time here is ending...
What did you want to see before the end?
It will be made in the Request-a-card Set #1 (name ideas also welcome ). |

Not what I had in mind. You can certainly include one if you like, but must still have three other Ring-bearers.
I have three entries in now. 2 days left! |
