So I’ve decided to scrap the AVP set, since it wasn’t getting any reviews. Now it brings me to want to create a LotR set that brings new concepts and ideas to all the newer cultures (and some older ones) so get ready for a LotR ride! 185 card set with each culture getting 15 cards and 5 sites. There is no lore and no rarities/set numbers, basically a collection of DCs based on the battle of Amon-hen, where Frodo left the fellowship and where the Uruks were taking the hobbits. (To isengard, to isengard, gard gard gard...) I can let you guys determine rarities on my cards if you want. First culutre I’m going to do will be . Then after that, I’ll post whichever I feel like. Click on a culture icon to see a completed section. I’d also like to thank everyone who has helped me review my cards very much!

Companion • Man
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
Ranger.
While you can spot 2 hobbits, Aragorn is defender +1.
Skirmish: Exert Aragorn and discard a card from hand to exert a minion he is skirmishing (or wound that minion if it is an Uruk-Hai).
Twisting Blades
Event • Skirmish
Make a minion skirmishing a ranger strength -2. (Or -3 if that ranger is Aragorn)
•Ranger’s Sword, Defender’s Sword
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength: +2
Bearer must be Aragorn.
He is damage +1.
While Aragorn is skirmishing more than 1 minion, each minion skirmishing him is strength -1.
•Boromir, Defender of the Halflings
Companion • Man
Strength: 7
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 5
Ranger.
At the end of any phase, if Boromir’s resistance is 0, place him in your discard pile.
Skrimish: If Boromir is not assigned to a skirmish, discard a card from hand to have Boromir replace an unbound hobbit skirmishing a minion. (Or 2 cards and add a burden to have Boromir replace Frodo skirmishing a minion)
•Resiliance
Condition
Bearer must be a man.
If this card is discarded from play, remove it from the game.
Each time bearer takes a wound in the archery phase, bearer is vitality +1 until the regroup phase. (Limit +X, where X is that companion’s printed vitality)
Defend the Narrow Passage
Condition
Plays on a site.
Limit 1 per site.
Each companion skirmishing more than 1 minion at this site is strength +1.
Response: If a companion is about to take a wound, discard this condition to prevent that.
Battle Focus
Event • Skirmish
Heal a man. If that man is skirmishing more than 1 minion, you may heal a companion.
Deflection
Event • Response
If a man with a twilight cost of 3 or more is about to take a wound during the archery phase, spot a hand weapon borne by that man to prevent that.
•Blood and Valor
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot Aragorn, Boromir, or 2 companions.
When you play this, add a token here.
Response: If a companion is about to be overwhelmed in a skirmish, remove 5 tokens from here to prevent that. (Or 10 tokens from here if that companion is the ring-bearer)
Each time Aragorn or Boromir kills a minion in a skirmish, add a token here.
tokens on this card cannot be reinforced.
•Shield of Boromir, Protective Commodity
Possession • Shield
Resistance: +1
Bearer must be a man.
If bearer is Boromir, he is strength +1 and the minion archery total is -1.
•Aragorn, Wise Opponent
Companion • Man
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
Hunter 1. Ranger.
At the start of the regroup phase, you may add to reveal the top card of your draw deck. If it is a card, take it into hand. Otherwise, discard it.

Decent card, although I don’t like abilities much that only work against one culture alone. How about, ’Exert Aragorn and discard a card from hand to exert a minion he is skirmishing (or wound that minion if it is an Uruk-Hai). Also, maybe a standard defender +1 while spotting Frodo is a bit powerful.

Nice idea, although minus strength is more an elven thing.

Cool. Enough penalties to replace the ring-bearer, I guess.

I’d change his first ability to simply 2 Hobbits instead, and drop the Frodo part. I also like WLC’s suggested retooling of the skirmish ability.

Good. Works well with the defender version of Aragorn above.

Powerful, but works for me.

If the limit weren’t there, then the bearer of Resiliance could take all the minion archery and everybody else would be safe. At least if I put a cap on it, it’ll give the shadow player a chance to get his archery wounds on the other companions. (If he works hard enough at it) |
