Hi there guys, just wanted to share my opinion about something, I didn’t see it being discussed here before.

Throne of the Golden Hall says:

"Saruman and Grima cannot be assigned to skirmishes."

Since the first time I saw this, I thought: "this is not an ability, it’s a drawback". Most Sarumans and Grimas would love to be alive in the regroup phase, and better, be sure they won’t be killed in a skirmish before they do their work. Besides that, there never was a Saruman or Grima strong enough to even threat the skirmish skills of Rohan; they’ve always been killed straight away, not to say that at least you could say that whatever they did, you could kill them Very Happy

Is it really what D meant with this? Maybe it’s related to Grima and Saruman manipulating Théoden for sometime...

If youre not facing tmotr then you dont really want to face Saruman Agent of the Dark Lord and also its 2 extra minions that you dont have to worry about assigning or double teaming a companion.

I see what youre saying LK and its a good point but yes its what D intended. All the latest saruman have been able to skirmish unlike those of old so its another minion you dont have to face. but as regards wormtongue your point is valid. Thats a drawback as far as i can see.

Grima, footman of Saruman cannot be happier to stay unnasigned, but Saruman, Of Many Colors withstaff of Saruman, Fallen Istar’s stave and throne of Isengard is a waste if the throne of the golden hall is in play, exept for the -1 strenght he provides.

yeah the grima part seems unnecessary. and Saruman mildly useful at best.

What happens if the Shadow player transfers Saruman, Servant of Sauron to a minion and Throne of the Golden Hall is out? Does that mean that minion can’t be assigned to a skirmish?

No, the minion can be assigned (unless it is Grima), as the minion is not Saruman. Saruman isn’t being assigned, the minion he’s manipulating is.

True, Followers are only "transfered" not "assigned". Smile
