We’re still in the middle of the Free Peoples, but I wanted to start up the Shadow side, too.
Like the FP, the Shadow side of is small but potent in The Road Ahead, and builds off of the much larger culture that was introduced in the earlier set Lasting Alliances. I haven’t yet decided what (if anything) I’ll do with Nazgul, but I DEFINATELY intend to have some Orcs.
Like these! As you’ll quickly see, the Orcs, just like their Lasting Alliances comrades, are excellent swarmers. Enjoy!

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Both look good. A little too basic for much commentary, but excellent for generic minions. |
Never kid about politicians. The more bizarre the joke, the more likely it is to come true. |

I’d drop his strength to 4 or raise his cost to .

The site number of 7 keeps it balanced... barely.

Much more balanced than the one above, IMO. Seems okay, though. |

Needs cultural enforcement, otherwise it could be seriously nasty.

Okay, I added a simple spotting requirement to the Assailant, which makes him less splashable (which was worrying Thran) and a little more balanced (as his low cost was worrying some other reviewers). I also decided the Tracker was a little TOO bland, especially since Big D has a number of 7/2 minions that cost , so I bumped his text up to a +3 boost, meaning at the right sites, he’s now an 8/2 -cost minion. Assuming you approve (and if not, let me know), let’s move on.
Dol Guldur Extricator
Minion • Orc
Strength: 6
Vitality: 2
Site: 7
Tracker. Hunter 1.
Shadow or Regroup: Exert this minion to rescue your captured minion or exert a companion or ally (or both if the fellowship is at a forest or mountain site).
“‘When the battle was over, we found...his guards were slain or taken.’”
Dol Guldur Flanker
Minion • Orc
Strength: 7
Vitality: 2
Site: 7
Tracker.
Shadow: If the fellowship has moved more than once this turn and this minion is stacked on your card, play it as if played from hand.
Maneuver: Remove to stack this minion on your Shadow condition.
“‘...Orcs came on us at unawares.’” |
