Expanded Format 2.1 beta
Rules:
You are allowed to have cards from 3 sequel block, when making decks.
So we have three separate sets of cards that players can choose from, when making their decks:
I Sets 1-10 (From Fellowship to Mount Doom)
II Sets 4-14 (From Two Towers to Expanded Middle Earth)
III Sets 7-19 (From Return of the Kings to Ages End)
So every card that you own can be used (although not in the same deck).
Why?
It’s easier to find any broken loops. Less cards is needed to X-list, than in case where all cards from all sets should be mixed together (old Expanded). So no separate blocks, only new deck building rule that helps to maintain game balance.

I heard of this once and honestly I think it’s way better than the normal expanded!! I tried to introduce this around my commynity but people seem to love expanded’s black holes like toldea / sense of obligation and a lot other stupid combos.
I think this is the perfect balance for people who complain about not being able to use old cards. Just don’t use them with the new ones I’m a standard fan first, but this has got to be my second favorite format!

We run one multiplayer tournament with a variation of these rules last year. This seems to become little by little the "standard" tournament type in our area. Just have to check out if any of these new cards need to be X or R-listed... |
