If they have to skip their actions, then you can skip and the phase ends, therefore avoiding any nasty assignments.

Yes, but there are actually quite a few assignment cards in this block, for example Gathering Gloom at this link, as well as some others to come, so its use is broader than you might think.
I was hoping for at least DI’s opinion, but he seems to be currently absent, so I’ll move on to the last cards of this set:
• Crown of Leaves
Artifact • Crown
Bearer must be Thranduil.
Each time Thranduil is assigned to skirmish a wounded minion, you may draw a card.
Skirmish: If Thranduil is skirmishing, exert him to place an card from hand on top of or beneath your draw deck.
In the spring, he wore a crown of woodland flowers.
H2 R 35
• Oaken Staff
Artifact • Staff
Bearer must be Thranduil.
Each time Thranduil is assigned to skirmish a minion, you may exert him to exhaust that minion.
Skirmish: Make an exhausted minion strength -2 for each wound on them. Discard this artifact.
In his hand he held a carven staff of oak.

Thanks all, the Elves are now complete. Any comments are welcome.
Gollum will follow (reasonably) shortly.

Yeah, sorry about that. I’ve been really busy since getting over a post-weekend migraine, and when I DO have time, I’ve found I want to just veg. I haven’t posted any of my own DCs in a week! I’m getting back into the swing of things, though...finally.

Why not just say "You may take the next assignment action"?

Interesting. I don’t have a problem with it, but it might take some work to get to that point.

I think it should be "If Thranduil is assigned to a skirmish...". Sound otherwise.

Holy overpoweredness, Batman! Imagine this against, say, The Balrog. Assign it to Thranduil, exert to exhaust Ol’ Balgy, then discard for a strength [/i]-8[/i] on the poor little fire demon. That’s just unfair. I’d reduce the cost to and make it a simple wound for that first bit. Much more balanced then. At most, make it 2 exertions and keep the cost, but even that is really, REALLY powerful, in my opinion.
Also, the skirmish ability should end with "...for each wound on that minion. Discard this artifact." |
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones
Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

The point of this card is not to take the next action, it is to end the assignment phase. If they all skip (because they have to), then you skip, the phase ends.

On the other hand most minions do not have much vitality, and there are a significant number of Orcs in this block with no more than 1. Nevertheless, I will tone it down.
Thanks DI.
