Whip out your paperback version of Fellowship of the Ring. Skip to page 55, and read the first time Gandalf tells Frodo what is inscribed on the Ring.
Notice anything... incorrect?
Hint hint: I suppose Frodo will have to bid his way out of the Shire! |

| i still can’t find it! is it actually in the words of the ring? like right after all the scrawly black speech writing? f so, i don’t see any typos. maybe they fixed it in my edition. |

Really, me too! The hardcover one with the Alan Lee illustrations? It’s sweet, I got it for Christmas.
Anyway..."One Ring to bid them", which is what I’m assuming it is, isn’t actually much of a meaning change. |

| ah, mine is the cheap paperback that my mom bought and my dad was going to read to me and my older sisters. we got through the fellowship, but it was taking so long that we stopped and i finished them on my own. such is life... |

I found another typo, on page 359:
Chapter VIII, Farewll to Lórien:
"...and maybe at last to the great falls of Rauros where the River thunders down from Nen Hithoe; and there are other perils."
The ’L’ was dropped from Nen Hithoel. Tsk tsk tsk. |

| No, it’s a single book. The cover has an Alan Lee illustration of Rivendell. In the TTT and ROTK books I got in the same collection, TTT has the foot of Isengard, and ROTK has Minas Tirith, if that helps. |
