Hey guys, I need some inspiration. Tomorrow some of my friends come over and we’re going to play some Lotr. I need a deck, and I want it to be fun. Fun in a way that it triggers a certain card, or deals with a certain theme....Like the best Arwen and Aragorn deck, a last alliance deck, with Elendil, Isildur, Gil-Galad, Anarion and some other dudes maybe...so c’mon!

Well, off the top of my head, I’m dredging up my old article about building weird decks...

Dol Amroth:

Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms (RB) with Res. Ring
Knight of Dol Amroth x4 (2 starting)
Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth x3 (+1)
Citadel of the Stars x4
City Wall x4
Garrison of Osgiliath x2
Athelas x2
Knight’s Spear x4
Knight’s Mount x2
Bow of Minas Tirith x1
Great Gate x3
Men of Numenor x2
New Errand x4

Strategy: Win with Imrahil to kill off all the other minions. Can tweak it to get a really wierd but fun deck if you work it around to have Gimli, Skilled Defender, Gimli’s Battle Axe, Toss Me, and More to My Liking to get a deck I call "Gimli, Prince of Dol Amroth."

Uh, Snow White and the 7 Dwarves is fun, too. Get permission to use Lady Redeemed, though. She’s only there for the comedic value, as there’s no elf events in the deck, so she’s not really broken. All eight companions start.

Gimli, Bearer of Grudges with The One Ring, The Ring of Rings
Dain Ironfoot, King Under the Mountain
Durin III, Dwarven Lord
Dwarf Guard x 4
Galadriel, Lady Redeemed

Axe of Khazad-dum x4
Belt of Erebor x3
Disquiet of Our People x4
Dwarven Armor x4
Dwarven Axe x3
Dwarven Bracers x4
Elven Bow x1
Mountain Homestead x4
Sword of the Fallen x1
Thorin’s Harp x2

Strategy: Thorin’s Harp and Mountain homestead make your little dwarves big. Disquiet of our People means that you can take on that Balrog and Sauron with the same little chump. Who cares if one stupid little Dwarf Guard dies? Dwarven Armor makes the little ones harder to kill, Dain help you double-move.

Yeah. The article is Here

Maybe some sort of deck with Halbarad, Anrion, Ranger’s Cloak, Saga of Elendil, Elendil’s Valor, Swordarm of the White Tower, etc. to get a massive-Vitality, massive-Defender+ Anarion.

I’ll see what else I can dredge up out of my decklists.

Edit: Here’s a few more I found:

Ring-bound Hobbits:
Frodo, Weary from the Journey RB with Such a Weight to Carry
Sam, Great Elf Warrior
Bilbo, Aged Ring-bearer

Sudden Fury x1
Stone Trolls x1
A Light in his Mind x1
Little Golden Flower x1
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel! x1
Mithril Coat, Dwarf-Mail x1
Sting, Bane of the Eight Legs x1 (although Baggins Heirloom would work better)
Phial of Galadriel, The Light of Earendil x1
Frodo Gamee, Son of Samwise x3
Daddy Twofoot x2
A Marvel x3
A Promise x3
Long Live the Halflings x2
Hobbit Sword x3
Rare Good Ballast x1
The More, the Merrier x1
Hope is Kindled x4
Orc Armor x2
Fates Entwined x2
Brave and Loyal x2

Denizens (SH):

Denizen of Moria x4
Denizen of Khazad-Dum x4
Denizen of the Black Pit x4
Frenzied Orc x4
Skulking Goblin x4
Cave Troll of Moria, SM x2
Spurred to Battle x4
Goblin Hordes x4
Bladed Gauntlets x2
Orc Spear x4

Brego Tank:
Boromir, BoC with RoR
Denethor, LRS
Faramir, PoI

Armor of the Citadel x3
Athelas x4
Bow of Minas Tirith x2
Defend it and Hope x2
Garrison of Osgiliath x1
Guarded City x4
Heirs of Gondaor x2
Houses of Healing x1
Ithilien Trap x1
Kingsfoil x4
Knight’s Spear x2
Stewards’ Legacy x3
Brego, LS x2
Blade of Gondor x2
Shield of Boromir x1
Storied Homestead x1

(Shadow for the Brego Tank: Use 4x Moving This Way, 1 Ithil Stone, two or three Minas Morgul Answers (or whatever that condition-discarding event is), a couple cards that draw cards, and the rest all Nazgul. Use the Shadow entirely for cycling, unless you see a good opportunity.)

ok, I won with an absolute no fun deck: lackey/mumak commander and the fellowship was also all about wounding: arwen, eowyn, thorongil and faramir. That was just to try it, because I never get the opportunity to play some of my new cards. It wasn’t a complete masacre, because he played those pesky ringbound hobbits......but hey, I had fun Very Happy
My second deck was knights with besiegers. I wanted to play the Gothmog bomb, but with 4 sites controlled and 3 southron archers he didn’t last either....Well, after all not too much time to built and it was fun....Then we decided to built another deck, I made noble leaders with Shelob Eater of Light...she was on fire! On site 7 she was 35 base strength but I didn’t run crowd control, so he survived...footman’s armor: what a card! But fun nonetheless, and worthy to give another/better shot!
