So, I’ve never bought a Reflections pack. On D’s site, it says it has 16 mixed cards from sets 1-6, plus 2 foils. Are those mixed cards COMPLETELY random (as in I could get 15 cards from Moria and 1 from Ents, for example) or do they follow a certain pattern (3-2-3-3-3-2, etc?). Could they be any of rarity, or only contain a certain number of rares? Also, how do the R+’s factor in? Thanks in advance!

Is this for the plugin?

Anyway, I don’t know how the R’s and R+’s work completely, but those are the foils, and they’re the ones from the actual Reflections set. I think about half of the Reflections set are R’s, and the other half are R+’s, but I’m not sure.

Yes. Cool So any thoughts on the other, non-foil cards?

In my experience with Reflections boosters (which only involves 2 booster boxes, lol), there is somewhat of a pattern to how they are inserted into the pack. I can’t remember exactly how it went, but there would definitely be 2 Reflections foils in each pack (always in the middle), rares being more common than the R+’s, of course. I always found about 4-6 FotR cards at the back of the packs. The rest of the sets seemed to be inserted in a certain order, anywhere from 2-5 of each set, but I can’t remember the exact order anymore. d'oh! Of course, a set or two was left out of each pack, but FotR and Reflections was never left out of mine. I never found BoHD in any of my packs, but others might have had a different experience.

It didn’t seem completely random to me, though, because I never got a pack like Kralik described. There was never a massive amount of one set, and tiny amounts of others (never 12 - 1 - 1 - 2 Reflections, for example), which you would most certainly get if they were completely random. It would be more like: 4 - 3 - 2 Reflections - 3 - 4 FotR or 5 - 4 - 2 Reflections - 5 FotR, for example. There were fluctuations with everything except for Reflections, which was always 2.

The cards chosen within the sets were random, though. They included all kinds, u/c’s, rares and foils. Not counting the Reflections cards, the chances of pulling a rare or foil seemed about normal to me, neither greater nor lesser than usual.

I don’t know if my ramblings help or not. Laughing I hope that they do. Very Happy

The only RotEL in Reflections packs were foreign, the only BoHD were from starter decks. It was mostly FotR MoM and EoF, but there was usually some TTT thrown in the mix too. The foreign cards could have been any language any set, but I mostly got FotR MoM and EoF.

If you looked at the rarity info on the cards as you went through the pack you’d be able to tell if you’d get a rare. Back in the day packs went:
UC UC UC R C C C C C C C
so if your series of 3-4 cards from that set started off with a C, you’re not getting a rare, move on to the next subset of the pack. If it started off with a UC, chances were good for a rare. And don’t forget that foils replaced commons, so if you got a rare, you could get a foil too.

Then there were the GOD packs. These were found usually at a rate of 1 pack per 2 cases, and were filled with foily goodness. Sometimes you’d get a crappy god pack (almost all foil c/uc) and sometime you’d get one that somebody obviously stacked (Isildur’s Bane, ATAR, Greenleaf, Double Shot, Hides, Simblemyne, etc).
When we do it in Iraq, it's called progress. When we do it here in the US, it's called socialism.

GOD packs were awesome. Nowadays, you have starter decks giving you crazy pulls. With the new starters, I can’t remember ever getting bad rare pulls. Pallando, Mount Doom, The Ring of Rings, etc. Stuff like that. I think they decided that the newbies who had somewhat of a clue what they were doing needed a decent jump-start to get the trading going.

That would be awesome. Back in the day one of those packs would probably be worth over $100, no? I remember selling foils for upwards of $50 each, such as an Aragorn or the Cave Troll, etc.

Hmm...this sounds a mite too complex to model in Lackey.
