I have a local shop that is offering me the following:

5x TT Booster Boxes @ $16 ea.
8x BOHD Booster Boxes @ $13 ea.

I have the majority of the non-foils already, I’m mainly looking for foils (which seems hard to come by on ebay).

Do you think it’s worth it? What are your thoughts? Think

Two Towers seems like a really good price seeing that ebay has them at buy it now for around $26 each. I would also guess the BoHD is a fair price, but I NEVER bought a booster box of that set. Hope this helps some.

The prices are a steal, especially since you don’t have to pay S&H. I reckon you’d be hard-pressed to find a better deal online.

But BoHD is a horrible set... 8 boxes, wow! Shocked Maybe get a box from a later set for trade fodder, or buy singles outright? You could end up getting more bang for your buck. Are you missing most of the foils?

Ya I’m trying to complete my foils.

He also has a SG booster box for $50 but I think it’s a better value to buy the foil set for $99.

These places carry foils:

Cardhaus Games
CCG Obsession
Gandalf’s Cart
The Rendezvous Point (50% off)

Hope it helps one way or another. Thumbs Up

And SoG... now that was a good set! (Though in hindsight, maybe too good.)

IMO, you should take the boxes and run.

He wouldn’t miss ’em. Nobody buys LotR anymore.

Geez according to the prices at Rendezvous (even after the 50% off) I made a killing on my 14 SOG Rares foils. I paid 18.50 for those 14 and after the 50% off they still would cost me $116 from that site. Glad I didn’t get my wish and get outbid Very Happy . But anyway is The Witch-King, Black Captain (Foil) really worth $20 (after the 50% off) and Shelob, Eater of Light worth $15 (after the 50% off). Not to mention are they really worth that much if not for the discount? If anyone wants to buy my WC, Black Captain for $40 I will let him go Laughing . Anyway sorry for interrupting your thread H_P but those 14 Rares SOG foils are for trade and I won’t except $40 worth of cards for the WC and $30 worth of stuff for the Shelob Shocked , that is just a bit insane IMO.

I’m surprised you didn’t say anything about CCG Obsession. Laughing Yeah, probably the cheapest is to trade for them or hunt around on eBay. Gandalf’s Cart has a smaller selection but you can scoop them up really cheap.

Still, I’m comparing these to spending $104 on BoHD booster boxes. How many foils can you expect from 8 boxes? I’m guessing not enough for a complete foil set, and $104 is IMO already more than the set is really worth. So if you ARE willing to spend that amount, you could possibly get a better deal by buying singles outright.

And I gotta agree; the prices of rare foils especially in these stores tend to be way out there. H13 might sell them for cheaper. Laughing

I check them frequently, especially cardhaus.

Booster Breakdown: 6 foils per box (average)

Two Towers: I need 283 foils (I also need 29 non-foils)
$80 for 5 Boxes = 30 foils (+ chance of a foil ring)

Helms Deep: I need 101 foils (My non-foil set is complete)
$104 for 8 boxes = 48 foils

Siege of Gondor: I need 110 foils (I also need 29 non-foils)
$50 for 1 box = 6 foils (vs. a complete foils set on Ebay for $99)

Alternatively I can trade for foils and/or buy them from the vendors above.
So what would be wise to say yes or no to given my options?
I can pretty much figure it out, I just wanted to get opinions.
