While you guys are fighting, stop using ad hominem attacks. You sound like a bunch of kids who can’t find anything sane to say about the argument, so you start namecalling. This does nothing but get the thread locked, if any of our moderators even cared any more.

Back up. Try this sanely. And let’s DISCUSS IT not fight.

The thing with SdA was that before, there was another venue, LotR Online. Since that closed down, anyone who plays there is going to play there, anyone who doesn’t, isn’t. The freeware no longer has any effect, so nobody cares. Back when LotR Online was still an option, SdA was a problem to Decipher, but since they don’t care about the game any more, and since playing online isn’t going to affect them one way or the other, D doesn’t care about it.

As for the relaunch, I don’t think that the relaunch is going to really help, because you’re basically throwing a bunch of erratum around that messes up how the cards work. I think that in the choice between mass errata and mass banning, mass banning is always better, because its easier to remember something’s banned then that it works differently. The only way I see this working is if D prints a new errata-d edition of the set, which I doubt will happen.

Thanks for the feedback NBarden. Smile

I wasn’t trying to start any fights... I was just asking to hear any thoughts on the legal aspect of things. It seems reasonable to believe that Decipher doesn’t care about online play now that they have no monetary interest in the matter.

As far as the fighting and name calling goes, that was over a few posts before you rejoined the thread there NB. HL and I are on good terms now with an understanding of each other’s POV and goal for the game.

He and I are both knowledgeable old school players - when exactly did most of you start playing the game anyway? - and are looking forward to working together towards that end.

And as for Decipher’s possible current opinion on SDA/Lackey? I couldn’t say, but I would have to guess that until they are able to focus energies and manpower on current or former properties, they have no opinion. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t technically breaking copyright law, and doesn’t legally waive Decipher’s right to defend said copyright, but again, they don’t have the resources to spare right now. Hopefully when they do have those resources, any online engines will be "protected" under the Players Committee.

Right after Realms was released.

Quite frankly, I think Decipher will most likely be thrilled that someone is keeping a database, because theirs is so hit or miss right now. They may want you to take it down sometime in the future, but only after they’ve managed to get back on their feet again and have a reliable card database of their own on the Decipher website.

I wouldn’t expect any ill feelings from Decipher about the Kralik Card Database. Smile

Lets hope not, Kralik is a hero for the work he has put in. Most of us CC members at least have been needing a good card database you can search for ages since cobra went down.

Well, thanks guys. Smile I put a copyright notice similar to the one contained at tradecardsonline.com, so hopefully that will suffice. At least I hope that if Decipher comes around to my site they’ll see that I have no ill motives.
Hopefully I will be able to upgrade the search engine for y’all soon! Very Happy

We now return you to your regularly scheduled "how to resurrect LotR" thread.
