Tracking the prize
« on: February 21, 2015, 01:40:16 PM »
I have 3 hunters out, a companion goes defender plus 1 and fights 2 hunters, but he only exerts once because there is only "one" start to a skrimish? Or does he exert twice

Wait also, it says" each companion skrimishing that minion must exert",so wouldn't he also exert twice because he's facing 2 minions?

Pretty sure he only exerts once, regardless.

If it exerts each companion skirmishing that minion and there is only one companion, then it would only exert once.

It goes for skirmishes involving a hunter minion. It doesnt actively counts how many hunters there are in said skirmish, there just has to be at least one.

If it exerts each companion skirmishing that minion and there is only one companion, then it would only exert once.

Exactly.  Tracking the Prize says, "at the start of each skirmish involving an [Uruk-hai] hunter, each companion skirmishing that minion must exert".  If there is only one skirmish, then the companion only exerts once.  If the card said, "at the start of each skirmish, each companion in the skirmish must exert for each [Uruk-hai] hunter they are skirmishing", then it would be a different matter.

I have to wonder, with the way Tracking the Prize and other similar cards are worded, was Decipher possibly planning to one day have multiple companions be able to fight a single minion?

Probably not. My guess is they worded it the same way as Rohan mounts just to avoid confusion, or be consistent with what has been seen in the past. I know this is applying to companions and not minions, but it is the same exact wording.

Characters like Riders of the Mark should be able to join the skirmish they are played in...

No. They are played like a skirmish event, not added to a skirmish.

That's not how it works, but that would be sweet! Maybe there could really be a ninja Gollum that could join in the current skirmish too. On the FP side they could have made some ranger assassins or something that could jump in or out of skirmishes.

If only more cards were made and this could be added.

Isn't there a [Sauron] Orc who can join in on another skirmish if a certain condition is met?

That sounds familiar. Just can't think of what it is.
