Vitality and Wounds

Say I have
Smeagol, Slippery Sneak
out and I want to discard him to cancel a skirmish involving a wounded
Uruk Warrior
. Do I need to add two threats or just one (in other words, is the Warrior vitality 1 or 2)?
I can't think of a comparable situation right now, but do burdens on the ringbearer work the same way? If I have
Frodo, Son of Drogo
with two burdens, is he resistance 8 or resistance 10?

Correct. By vitality they don't mean the character's max vitality when unwounded, but instead his current vitality.

The way to think of it is that you are not working UP to the max vitality or resistance, but DOWN from it. Each wound depletes 1 vitality; each burden depletes 1 resistance.
