Frodo, Sam and Gandalf with Sauron Grind
« on: March 10, 2022, 07:53:41 AM »
Ring-bearer: Frodo, Old Bilbo's Heir
Ring: The One Ring, Isildur's Bane

Adventure deck:
Green Dragon Inn
Weatherhills
Frodo's Bedroom
Eregion Hills
The Bridge of Khazad-dum
Valley of the Silverlode
Anduin Confluence
Shores of Nen Hithoel
Tol Brandir

Free Peoples Draw Deck:
1x Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim
2x Sam, Son of Hamfast
2x Elrond, Herald to Gil-galad
1x Albert Dreary, Entertainer From Bree
1x Filibert Bolger, Wily Rascal
1x Rosie Cotton, Hobbiton Lass
1x The Gaffer, Sam's Father
1x Glamdring
1x Hobbit Sword
1x Sting
1x Gandalf's Staff
1x Narya
1x Mithril-coat
3x Secret Sentinels
3x Depart Silently
2x Hobbit Intuition
4x Hobbit Stealth
4x A Promise
1x A Talent for Not Being Seen

Shadow Draw Deck:
2x Morgul Skirmisher
4x Orc Ambusher
3x Orc Assassin
2x Orc Hunters
4x Orc Scouting Band
2x Tower Assassin
2x Úlairë Enquëa, Lieutenant of Morgul
3x Hate
4x Orc Bowmen
4x Under the Watching Eye
2x You Bring Great Evil

Strategy - Bid 3-4 and go first to pull Sam.  Mulligan if you don't have any Intuitions or Stealths in your opening hand.  This deck is very good at limiting twilight and is quite durable up through site 5 and even beyond, assuming you aren't facing swarms.  You can make seemingly risky doubles to 5 and use Depart Silently/Gandalf's Staff to survive crazy numbers of minions/fierce.

Biggest weaknesses are swarms, Grind and Saruman's Power.

The shadow is pretty much just standard Sauron Grind.  Biggest issues are massive healing (pipeweed decks) as well as mass condition removal.

This is a really fun deck to play.  With 65 games played and a 67.7% win rate since the transfer to the PC server, it is pretty solid overall.

Thank you for the deck. I played it. I made mistakes but got a shadow win at site 8 despite losing Gandalf to the Balrog. I had to win at site 8 or  my Frodo was all alone and toast next turn. I faced the twilight reducing Gimli  and Gloin and tales and Moria archers with the corruption cards  Lost to the Goblins, Goblin Spear and Must do without Hope. I got rid of his Bilbo to save my conditions. I like the stubbornness of the freeps. Any ideas for having a better chance against swarms? I think Moria swarm is popular.

-thank you
