Prized Lagan

Did this card ever get changed or x-listed?  It isn't culturally reinforced.  I could run that card with Rohan, or Elves.  Or Wraiths for that matter.  And at site 9, this card could be evil.

i don't think that it's necessary to x-list Prized Lagan, because it's still a condition which you can discard really easy.

Prized Lagan hasn't been revised or X'ed. (The 8/13/2007 CRD contains the last official set of revisions.)

Well, maybe it shouldn't be X-ed, but it shouldn't even been made. Shire was good as it was, it was great without it, but this is really a terrible card. Sure, it can be discarded, but than you need conditionremoval at the right moment, oh and with Scouring of the Shire, dicarding is a lot more difficult....

yope - that's right. and because of that SotS is - to my mind - the best LotR card! there're only 2-3 useful ways to break this awesome card.
but i didn't say a word about scouring of the sire. i just said that prized lagan on it's own is very good, but not too broken.

Another example of how Big D just didn't give a rip at the end. Oy. All it would take would be something like "Spot an unbound Hobbit and remove a threat to...". Lazy, sloppy, and aggravating.

You can use just half of the ability if you play it without hobbits. Scouring would make much more sense to play in a hobbit deck. So, here it the cultural requirements.

Furthermore, the shadow player spots one more culture, if you sprinkle prized lagan over Rohan, Lorien or Gondor.

But I have to admit: Prized Lagan has an enormous missuse potential

fieuw...I was almost thinking that you would find Prized Lagan a card that isn't that good.....Luckily you see the strength of PL the way it is, neglecting fierce....brrr, nasty!

Fierce hate hurts Guls and Trolls... but other than that I have NEVER seen it played in a game. Not even in RB Hobbits.

Like most cards bandied about for errata/X-List consideration, it would be great to have some hard data to look at. Aren't there still some tournaments being played? Preferably ones where people aren't holding back.

Couple thoughts:

- How is negating fierce that much different than Armor (and other wound prevention) negating damage bonuses, or the bouncing Hobbits soaking up archery, or mass condition removal like Grown Suddenly Tall blowing apart a condition-dependent Shadow? I think part of the reason Prized Lagan made such a huge splash was because before then, fierce hadn't really been targeted. Is this a case of destroying fierce Shadows, or bringing them in line with others?

- Which Shadows are shut down by Prized Lagan? Does running this basically guarantee a victory against Troll Swarm and Forestguls? Are Easterlings and Besiegers (those running the Pillager and/or Trolls) rendered unplayable? IMO fellowships with great wounding or skirmish ability can pose just as big a threat to fierce Shadows as skirmish prevention.

It probably could've used cultural enforcement to make it more difficult to splash, but now that the deed is done, I'm not so sure it's errata/X-List material.

It can hurt Uruk Hunters, too, mind you.

It's NOT a lot different than other cards that shut down certain shadows, but the point is, it does that WITHOUT cultural enforcement. The only thing better for shutting down fierce is Erkenbrand's shield (for ) only, which had to be errata-ed itself.
