Defeating Knights in Movie Block
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:10:46 PM »
Hi all,

I'm new to these forums so I'll give a short introduction about the background for my lotr tcg playing. Basically, a good friend and I play almost every time we get together and use the cards we've collected over the years. We missed out on blocks after ROTK so we decided to be content playing FOTR-TT-ROTK only---and I guess that falls under what you guys call movie block. We each have large card pools but by no means do we have every card.

The problem I address you gentlemen with is beating a knight fellowship--which is my friend's favorite and strongest.

His deck is based on playing many many knights and including many many fortifications with a mix of skirmish events and weapons. No frodo protection however so I know swarm is an option, but what other methods can cripple Gondor's Finest?
(BTW his shadow side right now for them is Isengard Regroup phase Orcs)

Thanks

Corsairs can cause some trouble by discarding the bows.

corsairs always cause trouble. if you ran some sort of hybrid corsairs with an uruk/sarumans power package you could concievably pack a punch. especially since corsairs have been known to have some swarming capabilities if i'm not mistaken.

You are not mistaken. Corsairs can do that for you. And there are perfect splashable Isengard minion that wouldn't mind exerting for some Saruman's Power fun. Don't forget to pack Ships of Great Draught plenty enough, that will make your swarm effective, by putting all the cards you need back on your deck.

Mordor Orcs (semi-swarm w/ threats)
Just make sure you have Ulaire Enquea and maybe The Number must be few for crowd control.

Site Control Dunlenders
All you need is possession discard for the bows. Too Long Have These Peasants Stood is there to get rid of the conditions.

Uruk-hai
Saruman's power.

Moria Archers
Make sure you have Enquea in there too.

Southron Archer/Wound
Discovered, then there are many good southrons vs multiple companions fellowships.

Easterling/Gollum Burden
The Easterlings should be able to add burdens easily vs Knights. Make sure Easterling Captain wears the Easrterling polearm.
