Thorongil in a RoS booster?
« on: March 17, 2011, 09:12:29 AM »
Hi!

I just bought a couple of RoS boosters today, and I got a Thorongil from one. Is it a regular "bug", or am I just super lucky (btw it was in the place of an uncommon)?

Thorongil was incorrectly made a 1:4 rare, so they made it an uncommon in RoS to make up for it.

Thanks for the quick answer!

I bought about 80-100 RoS boosters so far, and my friends bought a lot too, and this was the first time we found a Thorongil in one, so I don't think, that it is really an uncommon, it is rather a "bonus" rare, like the foil rares in movie block boosters. Also, if I remember correctly, there is one rare foil in every 9 booster, and this rate was perfectly correct so far, but in this 26 there was only 2, so it is possible, that it is in the place of a rare foil some way.

Btw, are there RF or MW foil Thorongils in RoS boosters too?

When the cards were still being printed there was always one extra spot on each sheet, which meant one rare, uncommon, or common got printed 3 times per sheet instead of 2.  In this case, since Decipher screwed up with Thorongil printing in Hunters they took the extra uncommon spot on the RoS uncommon sheet and put Thorongil there.  So, he should happen half as often as every other uncommon from RoS.

Decipher wanted him to be identical to the Hunters printing, but you can tell him apart from the one printed in Hunters even though it has the same collector info.  All Hunters cards have a copyright date of 2006 in the bottom right corner, but any Thorongil from a RoS pack mistakenly has a 2005 copyright date.
