A non-knight companion bears an Armor of the White City and a Gondorian Steed. The Armor gets discarded (or transfered). Do I have to discard the mount in this case?

No, the mount stays with him. The "Bearer must be..." text isn't checked there (it matters when you're playing/transferring the Steed).

i made a ranger/knight deck once with 4x armor of the white city. it was really fun the one time i played it. then i deleted my sda decks and never saw it again.

I have four Armor of the White City in my Noble Leaders deck, but definitely the greatest fun with it is armoring Isildur and see him get his own bonus

Btw I've always felt this card was just wrong LOL
