Rainbow LRS + IB
« on: November 21, 2010, 01:26:24 PM »
We gathered again for some games with my friends, and since my Powerful Guide deck proved to be unbeatable in our playgroup (they can't outrun Radagast :P), my friends given me an ultimatum: they won't play with me, unless I let them borrow the PG deck, and I build a new one for myself. So I remade my LRS deck in a pretty interesting way. It all started without Gandalf and Madril, but I realized that I don't have any Home and Hearth (fail #-o), and I needed some heavy burden removal. Then came the idea of Gandalf, Returned +  GOTM, after the first game with it I realized that I only play 8 companions (I like to play 9 in all my decks), and that I already have 3 IB, and tonnes of ways to add threats, so I added Defender of Osgiliath (leaving the fellowship without sitepath manipulation). It played out really well, and I managed to outrun my Powerful Guide deck twice with it.

Ring-Bearer: Faramir, Bearer of Quality + The Ring of Doom

Free Peoples Side: (36 cards)
1 x Denethor, Last Ruling Steward *
1 x Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver*
1 x Smeagol, Always Helps*
3 x Aragorn, Thorongil
2 x Gandalf, Returned
2 x Madril, Defender of Osgiliath
2 x Legolas, Greenleaf
2 x Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien

4 x Unheeded
2 x Aragorn's Bow
2 x Faramir's Bow
4 x Athelas
1 x Flaming Brand
1 x Don't Look at Them
3 x Ithilien Blade
2 x Anduril, Sword that was Broken
2 x Ranger's Cloak
1 x Shadowfax, GOTM

Shadow Side:
4 x Isengard Underling
4 x Orc Artisan
2 x Porter Troll
2 x Champion Orc
3 x Watchful Orc
2 x Orc Crusher
2 x Chamber Patrol
1 x Cave Troll of Moria, Savage Menace

4 x Goblin Hordes
4 x Bound to its Fate
4 x Orc Spear
3 x Retribution
1 x Throne of the Dark Lord

It is the same shadow that I sometimes use with my PG deck. I think I will add some Black Land Chieftains and Sauron, TLOTR, maybe one more Throne of the Dark Lord, since it is literally impossible to corrupt my Powerful Guide deck with this (it plays 14 events, GOTM, Foe Hammer and Watch and Wait). I will switch the shadow side for a pretty typical Orkish Lackey bomb shadow, when my new cards arrive in the mail.

Advanture Deck:
The Prancing Pony
Dammed Gate-Stream
Mount Doom
6 random underground sites

I will add more later, but you need to switch Aragorn to a ranger version so he can be pulled with The Prancing Pony. Thorongil is your best option. Armor can take the free slots, as it can be borne by any man and is more for LRS to discard.

I considered Prancing Pony and a ranger version, but I already play Sméagol and I don't want to risk too much Burdens (in our group bidding 1 is usually not enough to play first). Also, unfortunately I do not own a Thorongil, and I don't think that there is any other ranger gorn fitting here :(.

However I will try a version with Heir to the White City and 4 Flaming Brands (after all my friends are not using any format regulations).

I got my hands on loads of new cards, so I reworked this deck (finally with Thorongil ;)). Now I'm looking for a Boromir, Proud and Noble Man, to add it here as a one of.

Could change to Ranger's Longbow.  Also can you place all three hand weapons on Aragorn?  I'm pretty sure there is some sort of rule to prevent that.  Also I would change to Legolas, Son of Thranduil or Legolas, Companion of the Ring.  I'm not sure why he's in this deck other than to possibly add to the archery total as you have no possessions to play on him and can't use Denethor's effect on him.  I would change him out for some Gondor companion.  I'm not sure who but you should change it one way or the other.

Greenleaf is one of the best splash companions in the game (just read Mager's "article" about him  :uh-huh: :hey: ](*,)), he can finish off minions that Denethor exhausted, if I would change him to any companion, that would be Eowyn, LoI, but I played her in the lest version, and I think Greenleaf is a little bit better here. Sure I could change to Ranger's Longbow, but this is a real life deck and I don't have any (and this is one of the rare decks where I'm not sure that it is better than the original).

Decklist updated. It became really evil this time, the only thing it lacks is condition discard, but all my Pallandos are in my other decks, so it has to go without it until I can get my hands on some new ones.
