T&D Aragorn
« on: April 16, 2011, 08:23:58 PM »
Hey there folks!

Any of you guys use the T&D Aragorn, HttToG?

So far I'm using Thorongil in my 3 hunters deck, but I'm running him with 3 Aragorn's Bow, RL, but I've come upon a real cheap Aragorn, HttToG ($2) and I'm willing to use him instead of Thorongil; the strength is the same, and I reckon Thorongil's ability conflicts a little with the ability in Aragorn's Bow, RL since both add threats. Plus I won't be missing the ranger keyword in the 3 hunters deck.

You think I might be cool replacing him? I'd transfer him to my post hunters rangers deck.

HTTToG can be just as good as Thorongil. Saruman, SoS is fairly common so that will trigger one defender bonus, and if you're using Gorn in a three hunters deck that will trigger the other defender bonus. HTTToG will be defender plus 2 and help avoid being swarmed by orcs or nazgul or men or uruks.

Right, good points, man.

I'm only afraid of missing the exerting ability of Aragorn, but I think the wounding ability on the bow is better in almost all situations... what do you think?

Thorongil is good for Bill Ferny, Agent of Saruman, just in case a mumak rider ditches the ranger's longbow or if you haven't drawn it yet, you still have Ferny protection with Thorongil.

Legolas, Woodland Emissary also gives that though.. so I guess it depends on what shadows you come up against most of the time.

Thorongil = exert non hunter minion (pavise comes to mind)
Ranger's Longbow = wound lowest strength minion

HTTToG and Thorongil are by far the best two Aragorn's printed, I guess it's just a preference thing. The Prancing Pony can be nice though to cut down on copies of Aragorn, so Thorongil gets the vote there being a Ranger and all..

I would rank Thorongil slightly ahead of HTTTOG just because of the ranger/prancing pony thing, other than that, it's a preference choice.

Ay least there's still East Wall of Rohan for me to fetch him in my 3 hunters deck.

Thanks for the opinions, guys!

I've struggled with the same situation. what is boils down to is this: if you want a pseudo-archer use thorongil, if you want a "super" defender use htttog. the ranger key word is not really an issue. a character either has the keyword or it doesn't. If you're building a ranger deck the choice is made for you, if you aren't building a ranger deck then is really isn't relevant. again, ask yourself, pseudo-archer or super defender?

You can't use that site to play HTTToG as he's not hunter.  I'm not sure if you're saying you could or not but it sounded like it.

Read HttToG, first bolded keyword

What are talking about ket the hobbit sword IS better than baggin's heirloom! what the heck kind of game are you playing. geez, choosing a unique weapon over a generic one, It's like you're asking for trouble! I'm being sarcastic, and wasting perfectly good html space.
