New Player: Questions from dReeZyr
« on: May 16, 2012, 05:15:24 PM »
I got these in a PM and thought I'd post them here for any others who want to reply:

I would be grateful if you could help me . I would like to ask some question about Lotr TCG . I have read the beginner  article at the last homely house but some things are not clear. (and my english not very good.)I see you have a smattering of TCG

I have about the skirmish. For example:
The free people assign a simple mordor orc to skirmish Frodo. 4 burden on Frodo. My orc strength is 8 and Frodo's strenght is 5 (with Frying Pan). The FP passes  and I use the Enduring Evil , now Frodo's strenght is 1 and he is overwhelmed by the orc. In this case can the FP use the Frying Pan?
Or it is working as the stealth event? So the frying pan must be the first in a skirmish action or FP can use whenever.

My second question is
If the FP have sting and glamdring as well FP can use them all at once in one turn? It would be very bad lot of places is 0 twilight token.
I hope the FP must choose which want to use in a turn.

Third question is
If the Twilight Witch King ( Lord of Nazguls ) wins a skirmish how many times can i exert him? If i exert twice frodo get 4 wound ? or can I use his special abilities only once.

I am look forward to your answer ( and sorry for my english, by the way we playing fotr block)

Yours Sincerely,

dReeZYr

First question:
Actions alternate between the Free Peoples player and the Shadow player in each phase. After the Shadow player uses Enduring Evil, the Free Peoples player then has a chance to play a card, use a special ability, or pass. So, you may use Frying Pan as many times as vitality allows.

Second Question:
Yes, you can use both in one turn. You could also use each one more than once. The strategy is called "choke" to make sure your opponent has very little or zero twilight. In later sets (outside of FotR), Sting was banned.

Third Question:
You may exert the Lord of the Nazgul only once. The key is the wording of "each time." If the card said Response: (such as The Pale Blade), then you could do it multiple times.

Addendum to the second question:

Sting has a limit of [4], so you can never use it to remove more than [4] per phase. You can still use it to exert Frodo several times if you want, but after the 4th twilight token is removed, it won't do anything else.
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

Thank you very much for the replies.

Edit
I am sorry I forgot some question for example

1. When is the search phase? I don't find any information about it.
2. Ulaire Lemenya, Lieutenant of Morgul (1U232) Each companion or ally who bears a [Wraith] condition is strength -2.
Well, if a companion bears 2 or more [Wraith] condition then he/she strenght is -4 etc ?
3. When I play a tracker , the tracker  roaming penalty  is -1 and each  orc  or only the orcs who played after the tracker?

Thank you for your assistance.

Search isn't a phase, rather, it's an unloaded keyword.

If a companion bears two or more [Wraith] conditions, he or she is still just strength -2.

Only the orcs played after the tracker have the lesser roaming penalty.
