Hit by a car
« on: June 12, 2012, 03:57:45 PM »
So earlier today I was riding my bicycle and about half done I was crossing an intersection and I had the right away. But a lady turned right when I started to go and she hit me. My front rim of my bike is all bent up to #$&*@! now. She did replace it though. I wasn't seriously injured. Oddly enough by torso, head and legs didn't even touch the ground. My elbows are pretty scraped up. So the cop came got all the info and everything was fine. Now I am ready for some basketball tonigh!!! And that's kinda how my day went.

That's the problem with bikes (in general, motorcycles included), your bumpers are... well... YOU, so even a light touch screws you a lot. Glad to hear you are ok, and also she seemed to be really nice about it, I wish people were more polite, my sister got hit the same way by a drunk driver, and the SOB tried to one-up her by demanding that SHE pays for his bent bumper. And then she called me, and the guy went downtown to give some well-deserved explanations to his alcohol-filled breath, so long story short, he lost his driver's license and had to pay a reeeeally steep fine, PLUS my sister's bike and also got started on his criminal record.

Riding bikes is so risky. A friend of mine had a collision with a car recently, thankfully he also just got scratches. He had to buy a new bike though....some drivers are #$&*@!, but I guess you're expected to know the risk when you ride a bike in the first place.

the real problem is that LIFE is so risky. you're better off not going out of your house unless you have a fully armored tank. i mean really, is it worth risking a car crash to go to your girlfriend's house? or to go see The Hobbit on opening day? no. not worth the risk. everyone is better off staying indoors their whole lives, wearing steel toed boots and having groceries delivered right to their doors.

;-)

But of course, this does not take into account the possibility of a plane crashing on your house, or a fire getting you in there. Or perhaps the delivery man is a hitman. Not to mention doorknobs, and the LEECHES, that are bound to get you after lunch! ;)

I didn't see this before. I wonder if I should feel flattered... or ashamed.

Dude, it's the 21st century, make it happen! Any person in the street (let alone people that are actually friends with you, or at least related) will have a phone with a camera and internet connection to e-mail you the pic. I mean, really, you'd think being in Brazil, in the middle of the jungle, having to craft a phone and antennae out of coconuts and vines, would make it more difficult for us that for you. And it's too darn easy for us.

DISCLAIMER: This is a joke. Brazil is not, in reality, a massive jungle with two small dots that read "São Paulo" and "Rio de Janeiro" (and we do not ride horses to school; yes, I've been asked). In fact, Brazil has been approving severe preservation laws because we do not, actually, have woods in any big city anymore, and the entire rest of the country (the other 80-90 or so %) does not have anything even remotely resembling the Amazon Rainforest. In no way I condone with the point of view of the likes of Chael Sonnen and others like him.
