« on: March 15, 2011, 02:53:10 PM »
Hello everyone,

First post here, for some time i was making cards with paint, which i would like. mostly it was about the picture, Cardname and Subname, and lore. Since i am a collector and not a huge player. Though i figured i could post some ideas here. Let me know what you think. some cards maybee a bit noob but hey playing the game isnt my best side.

[2] •Bilbo, 111th Birthday [Shire]

Ring-Bearer. Ring-Bound.
While Bilbo is the ring-bearer he's resistance +1 for each Party-guest you can spot
''I regret to announce, this is the end. I am going now.''
Rarity: R

[1] •Everard Proudfoot, Big feet [Shire]
Follower
Strength: +1
Party-guest
Aid - Add 1 burdens
Each time bearer wins a skirmish, if it is a Ring-bound Hobbit, you may play a Tale from your discard pile.
''Proudfeet!''
Rarity: U

[4] •Gandalf, Disturber of Peace [Shire]
Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
Party-guest
At the start of each Fellowship phase add [1] to play a Tale from your draw deck.
''Whatever you did...you've been officially labelled as a Disturber of the Peace''
Rarity: R

[2] •Monti Boffin, Listener [Shire]
Follower
Vitality: +1
Party-guest
Aid - Add a burden.
To play, spot a Tale.
Bearer is strength +1 for each Tale you can spot.
Rarity: R

[1] •Tale for the little ones [Shire]
Condition • Support Area
Tale.
To play spot Bilbo.
Each time the shadow player assigns a minion to skirmish, you may discard a Condition from play.
''So, there I was...at the mercy of three monstrous trolls...''
Rarity: R

For the Card pictures, which i sadly may not post, imagine, bilbo on the barrel, Everard working in his lawn, Gandalf with a strange gaze when frodo speaks his sentence which is in the lore. and Monti Boffin is the on of the childs listening to the Three trolls story.

I hope you like them

More comming soon probably

It should read "While Bilbo is the ring-bearer...". Typically Hobbits have higher resistance than this.

Correct wording would be "Each time bearer wins a skirmish, if it is a Ring-bound Hobbit, you may...". Also I think this is card is over costed. Too much for too little.

His text would allow to play every tale in your draw deck, so it should say "At the start of the fellowship phase..."

Expensive and unlikely to be used in a Hobbit deck.

Not bad, although resistance seems too low. He has a good chance of being corrupted very early. The only other ringbearer that has resistance 3 is Galadriel, but since her resistance rises for each [Elven] companion, she effectively has 4 resistance and since she most often starts with at least 1 or 2 elves, she effectively has 5-6 resistance from the start. So I suggest raising Bilbo's resistance also. To at least 5.

I'm not too familiar with Followers since I don't play Standard, but his Aid cost seems a bit too high for his effect and strength bonus. Maybe one burden would be enough.

Party-guest

His text can be used indefinitely, which is never a good thing. Maybe change it to: At the start of each Fellowship phase...

Aid - Add a burden.

Very nice, although it might be a bit too powerful. I don't know how many tales are available in Standard, but since there is no cultural enforcement, I'm guessing the strength bonus can go to great heights, especially if playing Open or Expanded.

[3] •Tale for the little ones [Shire]
Condition • Support Area
Tale.
To play spot Bilbo.
Each time the shadow player assigns a minion to skirmish, you may discard a Condition from play.
''So, there I was...at the mercy of three monstrous trolls...''
Rarity: R

I love this one.

The names, subtitles, lore and flavor are great, but game text needs some more work. Keep up the good work.

Rarity: R
I don't think you need the "While Bilbo is the Ring-bearer..." clause—just have his text as the ability given it will be most useful as the RB anyway. Also, you should remove the Ring-bearer keyword as that means he would have to be the Ring-bearer. Instead, he should have Ringed resistance. (cf. the difference between all Movie Block Frodos (save Frenzied Fighter) and the ARBs).

I also worry that the ability is too narrow. Can we not have something that counts [Shire] companions and/or allies/followers? Might look similar to Galadriel, but if you're counting allies/followers instead of companions then I think it would be fine.

[1] •Everard Proudfoot, Big feet [Shire]

Party-guest
Aid - Add 1 burdens

Rarity: U
"Add 1 burden"! :P I think the wording should be clearer: "If bearer is a Ring-bound Hobbit, each time he or she wins a skirmish, you may play a tale condition from your discard pile." This sounds cleaner and also makes it crystal clear that you can't play events with the ability (though I think you technically would be able to play tale skirmish events with your ability as written, in which case you should specify that and no others).

[4] •Gandalf, Disturber of Peace [Shire]
Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
Party-guest
At the start of each Fellowship phase add [1] to play a Tale from your draw deck.
''Whatever you did...you've been officially labelled as a Disturber of the Peace''
Rarity: R
In this case, rather than making him a party-guest (I'm not convinced by the keyword yet), I would give this Gandalf something simple like "Bilbo is resistance +1." And again, you need to specify that you can't play non-fellowship events, because this is not something that is immediately obvious to players, and so I would also reduce its applicability to conditions (and possessions? are there tale possessions? Red Book of Westmarch I suppose...)

[2] •Monti Boffin, Listener [Shire]
Follower
Vitality: +1
Party-guest
Aid - Add a burden.
To play, spot a Tale.
Bearer is strength +1 for each Tale you can spot.
Rarity: R
Now this guy is huge! Now I turn my Aragorn into a Pippin, Steadfast Friend +5! :o Pippin is already strength 12-14 in dedicated decks! I would definitely go much less. Maybe discard tales from play for strength boosts, or maybe simply "While you can spot 3 tales..."

[1] •Tale for the little ones [Shire]
Condition • Support Area
Tale.
To play spot Bilbo.
Each time the shadow player assigns a minion to skirmish, you may discard a Condition from play.
''So, there I was...at the mercy of three monstrous trolls...''
Rarity: R
Good! On the other hand, it is a bit of strange ability for [Shire]—I can't think of another instance with [Shire] condition discard, though if I remember correctly they do get condition bounce on a Mount Doom card. Maybe you could change it to bounce? "Each time the Shadow player assigns a minion to a skirmish, you may return a Shadow condition to its owner's hand."

For the Card pictures, which i sadly may not post, imagine, bilbo on the barrel, Everard working in his lawn, Gandalf with a strange gaze when frodo speaks his sentence which is in the lore. and Monti Boffin is the on of the childs listening to the Three trolls story.
I'm actually not sure this is the case anymore! Didn't Kralik move the site off-shore so that we could post images?

Good cards! I like. Always approving of tales. What I'm least sure about is the party-guest keyword.

Hello everyone,

Since my recent involvement in the creation of The Hobbit TCG, i was wondering around this forum and found 2 of my earlier posts. I have reinstated one of these new expansions as a side project. This will be a small series of cards, not more than 60 that all have to do with the Long-expected Party of Mr. Bilbo Baggins. There will be lots of new shire companions and allies, fireworks and boozes.

The idea is to make this playable with the FotR block, with the possibility of Bilbo as the ring-bearer.

Let me know what you guys think of these new improved card.

[zero] •Bilbo, 111th Birthday [Shire]
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Frodo-signet
Ring-Bearer (resistance 11).

Rarity:

[zero] •Bilbo, Story-Teller [Shire]

'' ‘There I was, at the mercy of three monstrous trolls! And they were all arguing amongst themselves about how they were going to cook us, whether it be turned on a spit or whether they should sit on us one by one and squash us into jelly.' ''
Rarity:

[3] •Gandalf, Disturber of the Peace [Shire]
Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Frodo signet
To play, spot 2 Hobbits.
At the start of each of your turns, you may take a [Shire] possession into hand.
Regroup: Exert Gandalf to remove a burden or heal a [Shire] Ally.
'' ‘Whatever you did, you've been officially labeled a disturber of the peace.' ''
Rarity:

[1]Master Proudfoot, Hobbit of the Shire [Shire]
Companion • Hobbit

I think it would be nicer if there was also some shadow cards.

I don't know why Bilbo should have a resistance of 11. I think 8 is fine. Also, I think the second Bilbo is too powerful as it is too easy to grab Consorting with Wizard. To make (0), use parentheses instead of brackets.

Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Frodo signet

Into hand from where? Draw deck or discard pile? Either way I think it would be too strong. Drop one of the two abilities.

Quote
[1]Master Proudfoot, Hobbit of the Shire [Shire]

Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Skirmish:   Exert a companion to make Master Proudfoot strength +3.
'' A distant relative of Bilbo and also invited as guest at Bilbo's Eleventy-first birthday party. ''
Rarity:
Okay I guess, but it makes him quite strong. Perhaps there should be a limit.

I think the first ability is quite strong. Choose only one of the two.

Quote
[1] •Monti Boffin, Great Listener [Shire]
Ally • Home I • Hobbit
Strength: 1
Vitality: 2
To play, spot a tale.
Regroup:   Exert this ally, to wound a minion, or a minion twice if that minion is a Troll.
Rarity:
Okay, but looks too similar to Calaglin.

Quote

Fellowship:   Exert this ally to place a Free Peoples card from your discard pile beneath your draw deck. (or 2 Free Peoples cards if you are at a sanctuary).
Rarity:
You can remove the playing requirement and it would be a nice card.

EDIT: Be careful about new unbound hobbits. Think about Legolas, DH.
