How are you making these?  Did they finally finish a template for Magic Set Editor?  If so, I can't find it.

No this is all Photoshop work, it took me a good week of searching and tweeking to get the almost exact replica and size for the text. It is a lot of work to get all the cards clean, but when you have them its pretty easy with layers to edit them, and even to make other races, as you can see with my Gundabad race which i will post somewhere tomorrow.

They look really good! the gametext is going to need some revision in order to fit the proper game jargon. for example, cards should not say "spot a dwarf, Kili is twilight cost -1" it would be "while you can spot a dwarf, kili is twilight cost -1"

other than that, they are great, maybe a few gametexts that i don't feel fit the cards, but that is really up to you.

cheers,

-mm

Maarten and I have been commenting on each others' dream card blogs but I wanted to send a link to my blog here as well: http://lotrtcg.4gxg.com . Check it out and let me know what you think! I just posted my Key to Erebor card (my version of the One Ring for The Hobbit TCG).

Thanks!

If you want to make a set, I suggest that you first make a card list and think about themes for each cultures. Then, make text-only DCs before you start to make image ones as you may end-up changing their text many times before the final card is made. It's easier to modify a DC on the notepad than on Photoshop.

Great advice Cw0rk, I was noticing that I'm going to need to go back and edit a lot of my cards already.

I'm currently waiting on Maarten's word on whether he wants to collaborate on a single set together, or if we should just both do our things and provide everyone with choices =D

If anyones interested in helping me design cards, I'm happy to take your text and put the art to it. Just reach out to me via comments on my blog.

Hello everyone,

Ray and I will be working on the set together from now on, and the first thing we will be doing is creating rules for the different Cultures and where we wanne put the interest of every race. Than there should come a card list, with text cards. We will post them as soon as possible, and keep everyone up-to-date on the progress, all help is welcome, and iff you have ideas for interesting cards or mechanics please let us know.

In the mean time we will keep posting some random cards that are ideas for the set, on the blog to keep people involved in the proces and giving them something to look out for.

Thanks for all your help and we will proceed, and keep u informed about the development.

Best Regards

Maarten

I think you should reconsider the number of companions that you have. The rule of 9 is balanced around the number of cards you can have in your hand. It probably makes more sense to just combine the dwarves whose names rhyme into one companion.

Hi,

I love your playset mate, I wish Decipher was still making those cards.
Can't wait to have a full set, print it and play with it :)

If u combine dwarves into one card (e.g. Fili and Kili), it would be cool to make them defender +1.

Those cards look really good, well done.

I think your idea to 'reinforce' cultures that got the shaft is a really good idea.  Making a new culture is also a good idea. Making new keywords (like LEADER) and changing dynamics dramatically (like eliminating the ring bearer) is probably a bad idea if you want these cards to work with old cards.  If you do that it would probably have to be a stand alone game.  It would be alot better to have this work well with other sets.

You could also make these cards based on the assumption of 'phasing out' ROTK block (not including Reflections).   That would cut down on playtesting and change alot of classic decks.  Play testing this will be important.

Unlimited possibilities here..... good luck, I wish I was young and single and could offer help with this.  I will print and play once the set is completed.
