Help with my Isengard Beat-down deck
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:24:15 AM »
Hello there! I'm trying to make a solid shadow deck using Isengard minions. I'm playing "quasi-legal" so i will be using three copies of savagery to match their numbers. The goal of my deck is to have guys like Uruk Guard, Orthanc Champion, Saruman, SoE, and Mad Thing to force the free peoples to battle these guys while Lurtz and my other heavy-hitters are left to skirmish the smaller guys. Thoughts on what i have so far? I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer.

x4 Uruk Lieutenant
x4 Uruk Guard
x3 Lurtz, Servant of Isengard
x3 Grima, Wormtongue
x3 Saruman, Servant of the Eye
x2 Orthanc Champion
x2 Troop of Uruk-Hai
x2 Gollum, Mad Thing
x4 Captured By the Ring
x3 Savagery to Match Their Numbers
x2 Fat One Wants It
x1 Greed

Thing is that you run a rather expensive deck. Would indeed cut a Wormtongue. A Saruman's Power wouldn't hurt either. If you are running into a conditionbased deck it could save you, imagine for example how knights would hurt you.....
I would recommend a fast fellowship along side this. A fellowship that is able to get rid of cards.

Thanks Gil-Estel! That's a great card! Do you have any ideas on how i could manipulate the deck to perform the same kind of actions just with less twilight? For instance, are there minions that i should probably use above others? Uruk Lt. has a reasonably low cost...

Well, you could consider Uruk Regular, that way you are able to play more Uruks, and with Uruk Captain you can play him back. Uruk Lt is nice in the combination with the Regular, more Uruks, stronger Lieutenant.

Sorry KTJ, just trying to help

People ask me why I use Gimli, Feared Axeman...
-wtk

Maybe for a decent Slaked Thirsts deck, in which he is essential, maybe in a Thorin's Harp deck along with mountain homestead, I don't know, just some thoughts...oh and I think he is nice in this one as well : http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,1061.0.html

Yeah, imho that Gimli is indeed one of the best. The movieblock deck I run in GCCG is one of my best I'm running. It starts Galadriel, Legolas and Gimli and from site 2 there is nothing that is going to last. It has points of improving, but it has not failed me yet.
