Also, interesting to note that four of the five (plus the aforementioned three they did not include) are from Movie Block sets. I guess for all Decipher's laziness towards the end, they did not make many splash companions in Shadows Block.

Of course, once Hunters came around...Aragorn, Thorongil, etc...

Ha ha, I hear that.

if i had to label any gandalf a "splash" gandy, I would say wise guide or leader of the company.  As far as movie block is concerned... white wizard perhaps?  or even manager of wizards.

Gandalf, Friend of the Shirefolk is an old favorite of mine.

I never felt he was a splash companion because at worst, he was just a normal strength 7 Gandalf (he and the Ring-Bearer).

Gandalf is as much a splash companion as Eowyn LoI is. That means, in certain decks they do nothing, in others they rock. In monoculture, Gandalf FotS has indeed no use, but neither have I seen -and undoubtedly you have seen it :D- LoI in a dwarfdeck.....

Not? and what about Baruk Khazad? Slaked thirsts on Preparations? Or Gimli's Battle axe, trusted weapon with some threats? Could be possible  ;)
