I'm new here
« on: May 12, 2010, 08:32:30 PM »
Ok so I just found this site the other day.  I used to play lotr quite often several years ago, but now I just play swccg.  I'm pretty interested in getting back into this game.  I enjoyed the #$&*@! out of it when I played back when but I quit when decipher announced rotation and the whole minion culture rearranging debacle.  Anyways I had some question I was hoping to get answered so I'm just gonna throw them out here as they come to mind:

Are there many tournaments these days, online or in person?
How is the online play?  Which programs should I look at using?
It looks like there are a lot of formats these days, which are most popular?
Anybody in the Denver area want to play some games sometime?

I've got loads of others too but this is what Im most curious about.  Thanks in advance for the info!

First of all: welcome! To answer your questions:

- Not that much tournaments. Some fan based ones in Europe, but not that regularly.

- Online play is tha bomb! No seriously, it is great. Log in any moment of the day and you get to pick your own opponent. It is awesome. If I want, I can play every day of the week a game. GCCG is the name of the game, for more info look in the Green Dragon Inn

- Most popular formats are I guess first movie (1-10 Reflections included, rotk sites), than standard (7-19, new sites) and then fotr...I guess.

- For me, no, I live in the Netherlands, but if you are around, let me know

thanks a ton for the info!  I'll definitely look in to GCCG you'll probably see me on there before too long if i can get all the computery stuff figured out.

Good to hear that movie block is popular, that is mostly what I'm interested in playing.  I had one more question about it though.  You say the ROTK sites are used, has it ever been tried using a mixed site path?  What I mean by this is you can use any site with the correct number from any of the legal sets so like you could move from the green dragon inn to the rohirrim camp to the stables, etc.  I have no idea what the implications of this might be but it seems like it could be fun.

There is such a Format the French guys use to play, it's called Multipath, but there are lots of banned Sites like Ford of Bruinen which can get too overpowered when playin' certain Decks. And isn't the most important point about Movie that you actually have a fixed sitepath?
