The White Rider and Gandalf, Greyhame have that butt kicking look, but Gandalf, Mithrandir has the most numbers on it whatever they mean, so thats my pick's!

Defender of the West for his splash ability in culture-heavy decks.
The Grey Pilgrim for being being able to take up to 4 wounds, and for it's card drawing.
The White Wizard for it's strength bonus when there's 3 twilight (which happens most of the time).

If I could have only gandalf it would be leader if the company returned is better if you can have support cards I.e. Shadowfax gotm

As with Sam, my choices here serve different purposes:

Gandalf, Leader of the Company - splash
Gandalf, Leader of Men - utility (Saved From the Fire)
Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim - utility (cycling)

Honorable mention goes to Friend of the Shirefolk in Fellowship block.

Though with that said, my favorite version is probably Powerful Guide, with him being front and center with his spells.

Toss up between Powerful Guide and Manager of Wizards. I went with Powerful Guide for nostalgia, I ran a rainbow initiative wounding deck with him, Shadowplay, Unheeded, Hardy Garrison, Pippin, WoBaS = mass killing.
