The Hobbit Deckbuilding Challenge
« on: July 07, 2010, 12:28:05 PM »
I challenge you to make a FP and Shadow side with Movie Block cards using characters from the book 'The Hobbit'. For those who haven't read that book, like me, just go online and look at the list of characters. You should try to include as much characters as possible from the book and avoid using the ones that are not in the story.

The deck still has to be a bit competitive.

Good luck. Have fun.

Oooh... many Bilbo, BoTB as RB decks. I'll give it a try. Although, there are only 4 companions which fulfill the requirements, if I remember correctly: Bilbo, Gandalf, Gloin and Elrond. Only other is Smeagol and technically, there was only Gollum in The Hobbit.

As for the shadow side: Gollum, Goblins (although not Moria) and Wargs appear in the book and Sauron is mentioned.

If the chosen format is standard instead of movie, there would've been more characters available such as King Dain and sons of appearing characters such as Brand, son of Bard and Grimbeorn, son of Beorn.

Then, you can post a Standard deck as well. I don't mind. I also figured out that 4 Dwarf Guard could be use to represent all the Dwarves in the story. However, their only use would be to be destroyed by big minions.

I would rather say that their only use would be to be destroyed by small, insignificant minions...

That need several cards to be set up early to become standard companions. Then again, a deck like this should have good cycling...

With a Dwarven Axe, Endurance of Dwarves, and Dwarven Armor, they are basically a standard 6-3 companion. Throw in a Hand Axe and Dwarven Bracers and you have 8-3 for [3]. Worth it?

Hehe, not so bad but put those cards on any other dwarf companion and you have a beast!
