Random thoughts for TLHH Virtual Sets

Since the cards for Virtual Set #1 have been chosen and the cards are being designed one at a time, for now I'll post these random ideas here instead of the Dream Team thread.


Random Ideas for Virtual Set #1

Goblin Archer
Minion • Orc
Strength: 4
Vitality: 3
Site: 4
Archer.
While you can spot 3 archers, add 1 to the minion archery total.
Response: If a Hobbit takes a wound during the
archery phase, discard this minion to add a burden
(or 2 burdens if the fellowship is at an underground site).
 
Strength of Kings
Event • Skirmish
Spot Aragorn, Isildur, or Elendil to make a Man
strength +1 for each artifact you can spot (limit +4).

Lightfootedness
Event • Archery
Spot an Elf companion to discard a weather condition or make
the minion archery total -2.

The Weight of a Legacy
Condition  
Strength: -1
To play, exert a minion.
Bearer must be a Man. Limit 1 per bearer.
If bearer is Aragorn, he is strength -1 for each card he bears.

Alive and Unspoiled
Condition  
Search. To play, exert an minion.
Plays on a Hobbit.
Response: If bearer is about to take a wound in a
skirmish involving an Uruk-hai, prevent that wound to
make the Free Peoples player discard 2 cards from the top
of his or her draw deck.

•Orcrist
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength: +2
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
Each time bearer wins a skirmish,
you may wound an Orc for each
minion bearer is skirmishing.
If bearer is Thorin, he is defender +1.



Ideas for a future Virtual Set


•Durin's Tower
Condition  
Plays to your support area.
Each time the fellowship moves, add for each
Dwarf bearing two or more Free Peoples cards.
Maneuver: Discard a unique minion
to exhaust an unwounded companion. Discard this
condition.

•The Mirror of Galadriel
Artifact • Support Area
Each Elf ally is strength +1.
Each time the fellowship moves, you may exert Galadriel to
reveal the top card of each player's draw deck. Each player
may place their revealed card on the bottom of their draw deck.

Ideas for a future Virtual Set (Isengard Men Support)

Where Has Grima Stowed It?
Event • Maneuver
Spot Grima and another Man to spot an ally or
unbound companion. Place each possession borne by that
ally or unbound companion beneath the Free Peoples player's
draw deck.

Men Will Fall
Event • Skirmish
Spot Saruman or an Man to make an ally or unbound
companion strength -1 for each Free Peoples culture you can spot.

Grima, Son of Galmod
Minion • Man
Strength: 4
Vitality: 3
Site: 4
Maneuver: Exert Grima to transfer a possession or condition
borne by an ally or unbound companion to another eligible bearer.

Saruman, Black Traitor
Minion • Wizard
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Site: 4
Saruman may not be assigned to a skirmish.
When you play Saruman, you may spot Grima (or a Man)
to play an condition from your draw deck.
Shadow: Exert Saruman and remove to play an Man
from your discard pile.

•Down to the Last Child
Condition • Support Area
Each time a possession or artifact is played on an ally or unbound companion,
place an token on this card.
Skirmish: Spot a Man and remove 2 tokens
from this card to add 1 to number of Free Peoples cultures you can spot (limit +1).


Ideas for a Virtual Set way in the future (remember EPPs in SWCCG?)

Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Signet: Frodo
To play, spot Frodo.
When you play Gandalf (except in your starting fellowship),
you may play Gandalf's Staff or Glamdring on him from
your draw deck.
"I will help you bear this burden."

•Aragorn, Protector of Frodo
Companion • Man
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Signet: Frodo
To play, spot Frodo.
Ranger.
When you play Aragorn (except in your starting fellowship),
you may play Ranger's Sword on him from
your draw deck.
"You have my sword."

•Legolas, Protector of Frodo
Companion • Elf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Signet: Frodo
To play, spot Frodo.
Archer.
When you play Legolas (except in your starting fellowship),
you may play Bow of the Galadhrim on him from your draw deck.
"And you have my bow."

I like your Gimli. I think that your Goblin Archer is too weak for a cost of . Maybe 'add 2 burdens' or even remove the discard part. That Strength of Kings is awesome. I don't see the utility of the last sentence for your mirror.

I really like your concept of Protector to Frodo. However, it sounds a bit repetitive to have so many companions with the same kind of text. Maybe you should cut Gandalf and Boromir out.

I too like Strength of Kings, but it may be too powerful. Many decks running Aragorn, Isildur and especially Elendil are already running a lot of artifacts and in such decks this would be a too powerful pump. The only other pump (from Movie Block) which can give more strength is Undaunted and it only makes Gandalf stronger and requires an exertion. Perhaps lowering that limit to +4 would make it better, but I must say that Gondor Artifact decks are already very strong without such a card.

I don't like your Dwarf of Erebor.  Maybe it's because I haven't been in tight spots like that but I dunno.  I think that the specificity of the Protector of Frodo cards is a bit to aggravating.  Maybe just allow the person to play a hand weapon or something of the sort.

I think that your Goblin Archer isn't good enough. I would never use it. It's not even sure to add a burden.

i think gandalf should only play his staff. and if you added anything else maybe make it: play his staff and draw a card. i think that the flavor is very FOTR and gandalf's main tool was definitely his staff. but thats just my 2 cents.

For Men I feel like the idea should be Saruman and Grima working together to weaken and pacify the Free Peoples.

it would be cool if grima could discard freeps possessions, like how he hid theoden's sword. or maybe even more fitting would be the ability to put freeps possessions beneath the draw deck. that might actually be more detrimental against decks that play a lot of possessions from discard. merry, sword-rack etc... just some thoughts.
