Rainbow Wounding - Am I trying to do too much?
« on: January 21, 2013, 03:32:40 AM »
First time poster, long time player of LotR.

I've been getting really bored playing Knight and "LR-Forearmed-Initiativelosing" fellowships which I think are by far the best in the format, so I've been trying out a good ol' rainbow wounding deck. See below.

Ring-bearer: Gimli, Bearer of Grudges
Ring: The One Ring, The Binding Ring

Adventure deck:
Dunharrow Plateau
King's Tent
Hall of the Kings
Osgiliath Fallen
Pelennor Flat
Minas Tirith Seventh Circle
Ruined Capitol
Cross Roads
Slag Mounds

Free Peoples Draw Deck:
1x Elrond, Elven Lord
1x Galadriel, Lady Redeemed {s}
1x Gil-galad, Elven High King
1x Legolas, Greenleaf {s}
4x Aragorn, Elessar Telcontar
1x Éowyn, Lady of Ithilien {s}
1x Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence
1x Sam, Son of Hamfast
1x Leowyn
1x Axe of Erebor
2x Aragorn's Bow
1x Brego
1x Éowyn's Sword, Dernhelm's Blade
1x Ring of Fury
1x Aiglos
1x Anduril, Flame of the West
2x Slaked Thirsts
4x Double Shot
2x Dwarven Heart
2x Preparations
1x Shadow Between
1x The Tale of Gil-galad
1x Citadel of the Stars
1x The Saga of Elendil

Shadow Draw Deck:
3x Easterling Army
4x Easterling Captain
3x Easterling Footman
2x Easterling Pillager
2x Easterling Regiment
4x Easterling Polearm
4x Raider Bow
4x Ships of Great Draught
4x Vision From Afar
4x Small Hope

Ideally, taking the best aspects of most of the cultures to dish out maneuver exerts, directed archery and then finishing with LoI or just strong comps that can take a hit. Plenty of healing so that I can consistently do it all again next turn after I'm set up and a little bit of everything just so that I stand a hope against the big decks (LR for corsairs/besiegers/everything as a splash to dump Double Shot, Citadel for Beasterlings or any stray Dunlanders, Sam and Pip for corruption or wounding decks) I've tried this idea using Hobbits instead of gimli for the maneuver setup but it's just too much of a card investment.

For Shadow I've paired with an always reliable Beasterling focused on dumping everything to cycle after you've got 2 burdens and replaying Captain, weapon, bow and visions to overwhelm 1-2 comps per turn.

I'm pretty confident with the Shadow I just need a little bit of help/critique maybe cutting down unnecessary cards and adding more tech choices for the worst shadow match-ups. The other thing I'm iffy about is the LR splash and if I should just get some more Dwarven Heart and use Blood Runs Chill to clear the table instead. In my last match I ended up not drawing any events before I had to let LR die.

I would ditch LR and Double Shot to add Lady of The Golden Wood and some Quick As May Be.

Also ditch Elrond, Elven Lord and use Elrond, HTG.
