I recently visited my parents in the lower 48 and picked up some a package that I'd bought with a few months' saved card budget and birthday money.  Photo attached.

This is not; however, just a bragging post.  I have a few organizational hurdles to clear before I let myself start opening packs, but you can expect another edition of "A Pack a Day" to begin soon.

Hadn't really considered it.  My goal is to do a pack-a-day treatment for each set of LotR (since I've done Black Rider previously, I'll just be opening those packs regularly and post the highlights).  It is unlikely that I'll ever be rich enough to make the expense of Hunters block non-absurd, and attempting that with MtG is rather impractical.

Last time I opened a box of MtG, I set up a pack-wars tournament with myself.  I may do something similar with these boxes.

Which game do you prefer?

A difficult choice.  Situationally, I prefer the game that I have someone to play against, which is more often MtG than LotR.  I love Tolkien's mythology, and LotR is more practical to collect due to the finite number of sets, though.
