Judgement Day!!!!!!!

Judgement Day is upon us!!! Thought I'd start an election day thread for posting stories and oppinions throughout the day. Even here in England US election fever has taken hold which is wierd because usually we don't get this excited about it. Because its the end of Bush, who is even less popular here than he is in the US, and because of the excitement of the race so far its all anyone is talking about over here. Anyway I just got back from the American Embassy in London where I went with my Dad so he could vote. It was really cool. He voted for Obama (ducks to avoid rotten fruit). I'm going to stay up all night to watch the results come in.

Neat. I'd like to point out my midly amusement with this whole election process in the US, I'd expect it to be better by now. Elections here in Brazil are held within a day (no "earlier votes"), from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, and by 6 o'clock we already have the results.
On to other stuff... GO GO GO OBAMA!

Obama is trash. He is friends with terrorists, he is a socialist, and he wants to tax the #$&*@! out of  us. I admit that McCain isn't that much better, but pretty much anyone would be better than Obama.

Considering George W. Bush used to be friends with Saddam Hussein and Usama Bin Laden, I fail to see how it's suddenly a problem...

Why Obama? The guy's a socialist. In other words, spread the wealth around, tell people how to spend their own hard-earned money, etc. I really don't like the man. In America, we value our rights. The guy wants to re-write the Constitution. Political correctness is killing half the 1st amendment, the other half is being used by our wonderful media to print traitorous things about the nation. How about the 2nd amendment? The man has backed every law that restricts our right to keep and bear arms. The 3rd amendment he'll probably respect for the sole reason that he every intention of cut-and-running in Iraq. The 10th will get cut up for the sake of 'hope' and 'change' and big government. More welfare, higher taxes for working people so that those that don't work will get a chance. The problem is, the government shouldn't have the right to spend our money. If it does, we need to follow the founding fathers example and have another revolution. The man supports abortion, the murder of unborn children as well as backing a bill that refuses any aid to a baby who survives an abortion. The man has an abysmal record as a senator and is complete incompetent. Black people vote for him because they can't see past the shade of his skin. Others vote for him because they are mis-informed. Some vote for him because of his charisma. And finally, there are actually some folks who believe all the outrageous things he says.

I have a question for you, Felipe, and all you others who voted/are going to vote/want to vote
for Obama. What do you see in Obama? What is so wonderful about a guy who is best friends with a terrorist? Is it his charisma? His big, wonderful-sounding promises? Or just his hypnotic way of speaking?

Also, you said something about Bush being friends with Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. That, my friend, is hogwash. Friends don't attempt to wipe each other out. Our president has many failings. That is not one of them.

I've posed a huge question, and it's not just aimed at you, Felipe. It's aimed at turin08 as well. I just want to know why you guys think Obama is so wonderful.

Ah, but he's not like him at all! Sure, they might have their commonalities, but we all do. However, I think Obama's qualities more than make up for the single flaw of having stuff in common with Bush. What can I say? I'm more than thrilled by the possibility of seeing some change in US politics, specially because it affects other countries directly. Personally, I don't really care for socialism, and there's no way he's gonna implement it there just because HE happens to believe it (Congress will never allow), same happened here with our "beloved" Lula. I say give the guy a chance, and let's see what he cooks up before crucifying him.
And getting back to the Bush issue, yes, friends eventually try to wipe each other out, specially if there's enough money/power/glory involved, unfortunately.

Yes. Some of them will simply not be implemented, no matter how bad he wants it. Others, well, I happen to agree with some of them. Adressing GT's comments, I've never been a really huge fan of the US weapons policy. But why the heck are we arguing? It's not like it's gonna change anything, at this point, and not that it would EVER change anything at any given point, I have 0 influence on the elections there, after all.

You better believe he will. Congress is in Obama's pocket. Ever since last election the Democrats have have had the majority. They will not dare (nor do they even want to disagree) with Obama. Haven't you seen what the yo-yo proposes? He's gonna blast every right we ever held dear in to oblivion and the senate and the house are going to do this:

 

while he does it. I don't want to give him a chance to wreck this land. I want to see him lose by a landslide. I want people to see the real Barack Obama before it is too late.

GT it probably won't happen, but let's hope for impeachment.
