Sauron Besiegers - Shadow (Expanded)
« on: Today at 08:07:11 PM »
As the physical cards are getting harder to find these days, I gathered a large physical collection of common and nostalgic decks to play with family and friends as a pre-built game.  I'm posting these decks as a reference and for feedback.
The decks are split into free peoples and shadow sides, all interchangeable at 35 (36 as I added more cycling and discard decks) cards each.  There are some obvious drawbacks to doing it this way, but it is 100% worth it to allow mixing/matching.  It allows enough combinations to keep each game unique and interesting.  The idea is to have thematic and fun strategies while maintaining a balance.  These are built with physical cards, so any in the $150+ range are not always going to make it in due to the costs and to maintain balance among the decks.  I follow the Expanded format and rules before errata, but some decks might also fit into other formats.  This is one of those decks:

[Sauron] Sauron Besiegers - Shadow (Expanded)
Sauron Besiegers focused more on engine trolls than stacking on sites.

Minions:
Troll of Gorgoroth, Abomination of Sauron x3
Great Hill Troll x4
Siege Troop x2
Gorgoroth Swarm x2
Gorgoroth Agitator x2
Gorgoroth Soldier x4
Gorgoroth Assassin x4
Gothmog, Lieutenant of Morgul x2

Conditions:
Great Siege-Towers x4
Tower Walkway x2
Troop Tower x2
Their Marching Companies x2
Grond, Hammer of the Underworld x2
Ithil Stone

Strategy:
The trolls get cheaper as you pile up the engines.
Everything gets stronger as you control sites and possibly stack a minion or two along the way.
Gorgoroth Swarm and Gorgoroth Soldier are great against larger fellowships, which is where this strategy would usually struggle later on in the game.  You might even want to make them 3 each.

Note:  You can only place 1 token total on a Great Siege-Towers or Grond, Hammer of the Underworld for each minion played.  You have to make the choice as you play minions and split them up between the Towers so one doesn't become an obvious target.

I would love to hear any feedback/suggestions.
