how about a little movie block choke
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:08:00 AM »
I don't know if something like this was posted before, but I'm planning on a movie block that doesn't give as much twilight (so deck card number is 30!...
Maybe I'll fit 4 copies of Gandalf's Wisdom and remove Knife of the Galadhrim so spotting freep cultures doesn't become a problem).

starting:
Boromir BoC
The One Ring, Answer To All Riddles
Aragorn, Heir of Elendil

2 x Anduril, King's Blade
2 x Aragorn's Bow
2 x Armor
2 x Boromir's Gauntlets
2 x Ring of Barahir
1 x Knife of the Galadhrim
1 x The Saga of Elendil
2 x I will go
4 x Athelas
3 x Swordarm of the White Tower
1 x Noble Leaders
1 x Garrison of Osgiliath
2 x The Shards of Narsil
1 x Scroll of Isildur
3 x Sapling of the White Tree

I'd only like to say: good luck. I consider Boromir one of the worst ARB, due to his high assignment cost. It wouldn't be too hard to kill this deck. I really don't want to be negative or something, but I just don't see it happen. Why not go for a frodo/aragorn synergy in movie...haven't seen any of that, and I guess it is more playable.....

I want to keep it a max of 33 card deck. If playing with frodo, I have to make room for hobbit sword or antiswarm stuff, while Boromir can boost strenght and wear armor in case needed.
Yes its true Boromir RB sucks, but that's why Aragorn can take up to 3 minions and then cancel with Boromir's gauntlets.
Notice this situation (2 companions) is the only situation in which Boromir RB is more playable than Isildur, so I guess the suggestion by Decipher was that Boromir RB was to travel with very few company.
Also, it's good to put at least 2 tokens on Noble Leaders and since Boromir can be forced to fight sometimes; he can be wounded twice. Ring of Barahir, and Athelas can heal him.
Although the principle here is that you don't give as much twilight so anyway Boromir will never fight.
Maybe this would be easy to kill for an arquery deck but I don't think swarm, uruks or nazgul will have it easy.
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that i'm right...

Boromir's Gauntlets works... but only if they don't have [1]! Or.... *shudder* [3]...

I played this deck yesterday through lackey and it went well (actually won, arriving to site 9 with regroup moving on site 8).
But I know it has to be played again to be certain it works...

Anyway, anyone is welcome to try it and the final version was:

(card# : 30)!!!
starting:
Boromir BoC
The One Ring, Answer To All Riddles
Aragorn, Heir of Elendil

2 x Anduril, King's Blade
2 x Aragorn's Bow
2 x Armor
2 x Boromir's Gauntlets
2 x Ring of Barahir
2 x Shield of Boromir
1 x Knife of the Galadhrim
4 x Athelas
3 x Swordarm of the White Tower
2 x Noble Leaders
1 x Garrison of Osgiliath
1 x Scroll of Isildur
3 x Sapling of the White Tree
2 x The Shards of Narsil

I always disliked Boromir RB because I made the mistake of playing him with the ROTK (Green) ring, and then abruptly realized that once he's assigned you a. have to win the skirmish, or b. halve his resistance.

If you wound him twice, and there is even a possibility of losing the skirmish, you are completely screwed.  Needless to say, I didn't make that mistake twice.

But Gil-Estel is right, you might  make it to site five or six, but that will be the end of your little joy-ride.  Of course, that does give your goblins a good chance to swarm, but there are much better freeps to pair it with than this.

Besides, any player worth their shire salt is going to see Boromir's Gauntlets coming a mile away.
Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

He wasn't planning on it:
