I noticed that only two people are using a theme other than the forum default...and I'm one of them!

Just in case you weren't aware we had other themes you can use, and are curious to see what other themes we have and what they look like, here's how you do it. Go to your profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Change (next to "Current Theme" at the top). This will show you the other options and let you preview them, then change to any other theme you like.

If you WANT to go with the default, then that's perfectly fine, of course. But the fact that practically EVERYONE is using the default leads me to think that many folks just don't know any better.

Oh, and if you find any other SMF forum themes on the net you think would be good here, let Kralik or I know and we can add them for you. Variety is a good thing, so long as we don't go overboard and end up overloading the server with tons of theme options!

On the same note, I encourage anyone with creative inclinations to browse the main themes repository and let us know which ones look nice. I'd love to find a better one to be the default.

Well, you can always change it back via Profile-->Look and Layout-->Current Theme. But I'll leave it up so I can get more feedback.

It's not any less simple than before -- the layout is the same, but the coloring is different.
Comparatively the Hobbit / LotR themes are a lot more "drastic."

Is there any way you can modify any of the themes? In the Hobbit theme, there's not that much coloring difference between read and unread forums.

Yes... all parts of a theme can be modified one way or another.

Wow, I love the new theme! Yay! Great improvements are happening here all the time.

I would like to have the Lord Of The Rings Theme or the Hobbit theme, but I can't stand the missing icons in some places. You end up with little red x's everywhere, and I don't like it. If there was a way to fill those in, then I would use the Hobbit or LotR themes.

But as it is, I'm happy with this new one we're on now!

I noticed that with missing images on TLHH, Firefox silently passes by, but IE puts red X's. That may be the difference. There are a few broken things with the Hobbit/LotR themes, but I may be able to see to them in time.

The Hobbit theme should look a little better now. It was using some images that did not scale with the browser. I simply deleted them... a little less decoration, but at least it isn't so quirky.

Is there an image available for "New"? Right now, I just get the text "New" by an updated thread.
