OK, we got the sdl-net thing figured out (we had to configure Fink to use the unstable branch, and then it showed the sdl-net library), but now we're having some trouble getting GCCG installed and launching the LOTR module.

We were able to get all the libraries set up, and get GCCG compiled and installed (the binary version). We then installed the lotr module with no error messages, but when we tried to launch the Lotr module using the ./Lotr command, we got an error message:

Nubility:~/gccg test$ ./Lotr
./Lotr: line 31: ./ccg_client: cannot execute binary file
Nubility:~/gccg test$

We tried re-installing GCCG, but got the same problem. We then tried using the alternative method to compile GCCG ("./gccg_package install client fonts source", then "make all"), and got error messages (I have the terminal script, but it's pretty long, so I'm not attaching it here -- I can provide it if necessary, though).

Any ideas on how we can get the program working? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Did you ever manage to get this working? I know that GCCG has worked on Mac in the past... It would be great to get some binaries up somewhere to avoid all of the hassle. If only I had a Mac to look at (I used to have one)... perhaps you could PM me the errors.

There's always Lackey too if you want to play on a Mac. It's not as good as GCCG, and the LotR plugin is a bit dated, but it works...

I know some are using it on OSX for Metw.
If you get me an account on that computer, I can build it for you.

I'm not quite sure what you mean... would that involve setting up a way for you to have remote access to his computer?

IF you copy the .gccg directory that should work.

Clarification: C:\.gccg. ;)

Or if you want GCCG to be portable, put it on a flashdrive, and create a folder named "home" in the GCCG directory. Copy .gccg to home (so it's GCCG MAIN FOLDER\home\.gccg). Now you can play it anywhere! :)

Is there any way to export your GCCG card collection to be viewed in another program (maybe Excel)? I use an external deckbuilding program, and it's tough to keep track of what cards I have as I acquire more and more cards, so a way to view this outside of GCCG would be really helpful.

Well, first of all, in GCCG you can easily use proxies for cards you dont own yet, so you can play with all cards :)

Yes, but I'm playing with a friend who's new to the game, so as a handicap we're only allowing me to use cards that I "own" in GCCG. That way, as he gets better at the game, my decks are also getting better as I acquire more cards.

I was just playing a game of gccg against Mager and was in a very stronge position to win, nearly 100% guaranteed.. When my draw deck vanishes..

Yes my draw deck disappeared mid-game??!!

Does anyone have an idea as to how this could have occured?

So I had to accept an undecided result when I was definately going to win.  This is very annoying.

Olorin was watching he should be able to confirm the missing draw deck thing.

I had the same problem, when I played against Mager this friday.

My draw deck disappeared and he put many cards face down, I didn't know why.

I just stopped to play.

And I was going to win too  :-S......

Probably, it must have been out of window though, I looked everywhere in sight and under all cards.

Kralik: Please try and do something about this if possible. There really should be no need to ever touch an opponents draw deck / discard pile / dead pile.. Maybe gccg could be changed so that you can't ever touch an opponents decks..??

I have never heard of this happening, so it might be foul play. I'm not sure how you would hide the draw deck off the window... perhaps by grabbing the farthest corner and dragging it out of the screen by one pixel. Too bad you can't check in retrospect to see if you could still draw cards (by typing d1, d2, d3, etc.). I'd suggest talking to wlk if you suspect anything, and he's the one (if anyone) who could change the core behavior of the program. Remember, GCCG is used to play various games, so the sort of thing as limiting who moves what deck is probably defined in the base program, not the LotR module.

Well I ran into Mager again last night and he insists that he didn't hide it.. But he also cheated a win from me.

We reloaded our game to try and see if I could find my draw deck, I couldn't, he then declared loss and in the time it took me to click on accept result he changed his declaration to 'win' therefore tricking me.

So I will say to all who encounter Mager on gccg, be suspect of foul play.

Indeed, this is a plausible explanation.

I myself faced such similar cheating attempts, like exactly merging several minion cards in a desperate attempt to hide them.

I hate when we have to implement some anti-cheater features !
Then we'll face the "disconnect when losing" thing, etc...
I say if someone's suspected for cheating, just don't play him anymore, like you'd do in real life.
I don't say this specific case is deliberate cheating (I mean it might be a manipulation error not on purpose).

Anyway, I will think about this (enforcing moves inside the playmat, or at least logging something like "xxx moved yyy's draw deck out of the play area").
