yeah, the old watcher sucks, take maybe one old and 3 new.
He Does not sucks! Imagine all your tentacles get +2 str. and dam. +1.

That's awesome. The good thing about the other watcher is that you'll be on a march and you can play tentacles from your discardpile. If you got ESF on table + deceit then the old watcher rules. Just imagine
Old Watcher + 4 foul tentacles + 4 reaching tentacles + 1 Strong tentacles it only needs about 23 pool. Believe me you'll have that if your opponent moves more then once... and your #$&*@! will be kicked. We (the people in Amsterdam) played this in multiplayer and single-player format and it really hurts. Most times you'll have it on table between site 5 and 7.
Weakness is that if you haven't kill them by then you probably won't at all....

but new one is way better....you get to play all the tentacles from your discardpile....no-one will run vs you, cause they know with too much pool, they will swarm you....

Ok, maybe 2 of each watcher would be snazziest. Good idea, silver.telperion. I would need twilight.

Sweeter Meats and Incited will be pointless as Gollum is not a Tentacle and therefore will be discarded.

If a card is discarded when it comes into play, effects triggered by this are ignored (e.g. "When you play..." / "Each time you play..."). Does the same apply to regular costs/effects? A good deal of wishful thinking here, but I'm wondering if So Polite still adds twilight if the Watcher is in play. :P

I would assume with the Watcher in play and a Gollumin the discard pile, So Polite could still be played.  The effect would be playing Gollum (an paying cost) and then immediatedly discarding him.  I am not certain, but that is how I'd view it.

It just depends on the situation.

it is very easy to understand my friend, why the new is way better, example:

you+not get your sites to play+ no evil smelling fens draw= deck won't work, not even a bit, cause all tentacles discard.

I think this makes it very clear....

you may not rely on 4 conditions, if they git discardee, all tentacles die and your oponent just laughs, like I would do;)

Better an weak watcher as no watcher, eh?

Good point. But if I play 2 player games, (which I do most the time) then I just go second and play all my sites. Or I could run a Free Peoples side which is made to play the next site.

If the So Polite thing works, you could save up all 4 copies for a twilight bomb. You'd need at least 3 threats for a net gain (Gollum himself costs 2), with a net max of 4 x 7 = 28 twilight.

That is, if twilight generation is desired. Otherwise I'd run the new Watcher and add every tentacle in sight, along with ESF (in case the Watcher gets killed) and Gollum (to key off ESF for more Watchers).

I don't like the idea of Gollum in this deck because he only helps with some cards and is discarded by the Watcher. What's the point of so polite if I don't have any way of adding threats? If I do put Fat One Wants It in this deck, it would be like a 1/10 chance I draw it.

this deck is hard to play also in general (not to play but to win against an strong fellowship), this makes it even more difficult to work.
