Light & Shadow - have your say!
« on: April 28, 2009, 12:02:28 PM »
As you may or may not know, in my DC set (check out the link in my sig) I'm trying to have at least 1 reprint per culture. Now it came to [Shire], and I didn't know what card to put in. I've got a slot for either a common or an uncommon, and so I thought I'd assemble a list of [Shire] commons and uncommons from sets 1-10 that I wouldn't mind printing in the set and get you guys to decide for me! ;)

And here are the autolinks:

A Talent for Not Being Seen
Hobbit Appetite
Noble Intentions
Sorry About Everything
Nice Imitation
Good Work
A Marvel
Chance Observation
Make Haste
Narrow Escape
Nine-Fingered Frodo and the Ring of Doom
Shadowplay
Slunk Out of Sight
The Tale of the Great Ring

I'm trying to leave Ring-bound/unbound out and I'm trying not to deal with Sméagol either, which is why there are so few Towers cards here.

So, do any of you have any preferences? Or if there's another card you'd rather I put in, suggest it (but also vote)!

Thanks all.

A talent for not being seen is too good. hobbit appetite is kinda meh.  I've always liked noble intentions, as a good cheap hobbit protection card...

I'd go with either:
noble intentions
Chance Observation
Shadowplay
or Nffatrod.

Elf Lvr:
Bit of a scrawny Iowan kid with an unhealthy artifact obsession. Oh, and a God of Spam. In a good way.

Believe it or not, I did NOT vote for NfFatRoD, even though I'm sure everyone knows by now that I practically sleep with a copy under my pillow.

...wait, uh, forget about that part.

Anyway, I went OLD school with ATfNBS. Always loved that card.
Best regards,
Dáin

Rats- I can't decide between Nffatrod, ATfNBS, Chance Observation, and Shadowplay. Would you be doing more than one?

Make haste. Awesome card. Like i said in your other thread Thran, hobbits arent exactly fighters and shouldnt focus on beating stuff up cos thats just stupid. Theyre crap for crying out loud! Not only does make haste capture the idea theyre small useless and run off, its also a fun card to build a bounce mechanic round.

Shadowplay was a close second due to its general usefulness.

Looks like things are pretty static now. Even with you changing your vote, SoP, it still looks like NFFatRoD for the win. And so, the people have spoken. ;)

I'm quite happy about this, and I'll tell you why:

1) I think reprints are best when they're pretty generic and flexible. This card definitely fits the bill for that.
2) It sums up one of the biggest and most important strengths of the [Shire] culture, burden removal (and also reinforces the Shire's love of tales).
3) It references characters by culture not race, which is something I've been doing throughout this set.

Thanks all! This may not be the last time you hear from me about this sort of stuff :hey:
