Pacifist Gandalf (Freeps) -- NEVER MIND, Does not work. Bah!

Here's a deck idea I had, inspired by noticing certain cards from the Gandalf choke post in Fellowship:

Total size: 32 (less would be better if I could handle it).

1x 1R307 • Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence (starting)
1x 8R15 • Gandalf, Leader of Men (starting)

2x 10P122 • Sam, Great Elf Warrior
1x 3R34 • Narya
4x 2R22 • Gandalf's Staff
4x 3R113 The Shire Countryside
2x 3C30 Deep in Thought
4x 3C31 Depart Silently
3x 3C32 Fireworks
3x 4U99 Roll of Thunder
2x 10U111 Narrow Escape
4x 10C112 Nine-fingered Frodo and the Ring of Doom

Bid to go first with peel a burden with Pippin. Mulligan if you don't get Gandalf's Staff unless you REALLY like your starting hand. Use The Binding Ring to fetch Narya; Sleeping Quarters should pay for the staff.

The idea is to double every turn if possible. Assign all minions on Gandalf with Depart Silently, then cancel with his staff. NFFatRoD + The Shire Countryside heals Gandy the skirmish phase to keep him with extra vitality, and Narya should help as well. Sam will help to give the fellowship more vitality for archery wounds and Narrow Escape has its uses...

Here are some of my thoughts on key threats:
• Grond HotU: Discard with Roll of Thunder and/or get another Gandalf's Staff to play later.
• Black Dart: Deep in Thought?
• Fierce in Despair: Hopefully you'll have four hobbits and Narrow Escape when you need it? Discard corsair possessions, especially Corsair War Galley.
• Isengard Orcs: Yeeeeouch!
• Fierce Minions: I had You Cannot Pass! in, but took it out to make space for Narrow Escape. I figured that if my opponent is playing with fierce minions there will probably be more than one. This could be a problem.

Ideas? Suggestions? Most likely will pair with something like Easterlings to punish the opponent for putting out too much twilight and/or doubling.

D'oh! I don't know what I was thinking - I misread the key card to my deck! For some silly reason this whole time I was thinking the opposite: make a hobbit str+3 at sites 1 to 5 and at any other site...     

EDIT: for fixing my delusion before I destroyed myself in a real game.

And with TSC you can only heal hobbits.. not Gandalf. Maybe some other Gandalf Healing? Oeps my mistake... always used it for only healing hobbits.. even with dauntless hunter... I feel sad.. lost tournaments, because of that. If I had healed Legolas or Smeagol as well, I would've won the tournaments  Companion... how could I've missed that

But there is good news.. but Depart Silently can be used in Austrian format!
Well had a discussion with Enola about this. But according to me the card says sites 1 to 5. Whith the generic sites the don't have a sitenumber but when they have been played they become say site 4 or5 (if the site was played 4th on the sitepath it becomes site 4. And therfore you can use DS as you can use Hobbit Stealth and hobbit intuition. I know you people say that it should be read as 1f, but that would be an errata, which I never have read. Hobbit farmer doesn't work, because you might spot opponents site 1, but as yours are generatic at that moment, you can't replace it with your site 1. I know on the computergame it shows different. But really there was never an errata on that it should be read as 1f.

Actually I've a Pcifist Gandalfdeck at home with using only Bilbo and Gandalf!

As an Austrian format deck sounds interesting, though I still wouldn't be able to use it past site 5, which limits its playability... Hmm...

well, if it makes you feel any better, its a good idea just doesn't work.
And I've never seen depart silently before, so you introduced me to a new card!

This is a bit of a resurected thread but you could use Steadfast Champion instead to do the same thing...

Why would it work? Your opponent can only assign one minion to Gandalf with the assignment action, and you (Freeps) cannot use the text yourself. Still plenty of minions to fight the hobbits.

I might try Depart Silently in FotR block and see how that goes.
