That's what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure.  I missed the starter decks when they came out, so I really have no clue as to what is in them

all are essential for the sites, but Gandalf is the best companion, so I would recommend that one

Yup.  It was by far the best starter when we played in a sealed league.

Indeed. I played several 4-player games. Each one had one of these starter: Eowyn, Legolas, Gandalf and Aragorn. It was always Gandalf who won, independent who played.
