My first 2 games of LOTR:TCG ever!
« on: July 15, 2009, 10:12:21 AM »
Hello there!

I'm pleased to say that I have finally played my very first  two games of LOTR: TCG! It was with the only local player I could find after a few weeks!

I was using my Gondor/Isengard deck and my Elves/Sauron deck, he was running a Dwarves/Moria Swarm deck!

We played 2 games. First game turned out like this:

He had a lot of Goblins out, but Aragorn, Isildur's Heir with Armor of the Citadel saved me. I had Merry, Loyal Companion out too. Aragorn, Merry, a couple of Gondorian Blade, together with my Tradesman From Lebennin and Heirs of Gondor combo, ensure I saw of this Moria Swarm, which consisted of Goblin Armory, Goblin Scimitar, Goblin Runner and so forth.
His fellowship had Dwarves, the most notable of them was Durin III. He had lots of rings on him, and he would assign my toughest minion to him and win the skirmish.

Oh and he even had a Balrog, Flame of Udun out! Boromir, Doomed Heir won the skirmish due to Gondorian Blade and a lot of Tokens from Heirs of Gondor.

He outran me to site 9, which means I lost the game. But it was a very fun game!  ;D

Second game goes like this:

I had Cirdan, The Shipwright, Legolas, Fearless Marksman, Arwen, Elven Rider, Lorien Swordsman out. But somehow, he managed to come up with TONS of Goblins, despite my efforts with Aragorn, Heir to the White City, Bill the Pony, and my elven "choke" fellowship. His combo of Goblin Armory and Goblin Runer and card-playing from the discard pile, card-drawing, ensured that my Frodo had at least 4 Golbins on him. Oh well.  :o

Thus ends my first two games from LOTR:TCG! I daresay it's the best ever start to a TCG I've ever had! (And I first played Magic: The Gathering back in '04)

Cheers,
Kenddrick ;)

Glad to have you in the game!

Hope you're able to find some more local players - or even teach brand new ones yourself! ...come to think of it, I hope that for all of us!

its very hard to choke out a good moria swarm, they can often generate enough twilight to sustain themselves. but i'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to play multiple rings on durin III. i think its only one per companion.

but either way, good job, and keep playing.

cheers,

-mm

Durin can have just 1 ring, Kenddrick, you have to remember that each character can only bear one possession of a certain class. 1 handweapon, 1 ranged weapon, 1 armor, 1 ring, 1 cloak, 1 box, etc etc.
Read decks, ask questions, learn and try to get others in the game ;). Keep on stalking me :D

Unless it is like hand axe or knife of the galadrahim which says bearer may bear this with another hand weapon, but I am sure dwarves cant have more than one ring in the game anyway.
In the movie they could load up the fingers and have 20
Beregond,  for the people who don't know, is from the book.
He resides in Minas Tirith, and chills with Pippin.
