oh, man...
« on: June 07, 2008, 08:15:24 PM »
legolas, of the woodland realm is SO...  BAD!

really don't know why it is so popular... of course, seven strength is not bad at all (against non-hunters), and exert him to make the opponent wound a minion isn't nothing to sneeze at. but the thing is that I just looked at him, and in an elven telephathy or every elven deck, (namarie... whatever), leggo, of the grey company way is better!

ahhhh... at last I said it... now I'll receive all kind of insults and scoldings for thinking the bloodlines pointy-eared companion is better... oh, well, nevermind

He's amazing against non hunter decks, but otherwise he is not useful.

*LOL* He's sort of like, "Lookit me, I'm a hunter!" Which might be all that matters in some decks (notably Forth the Three Hunters). He has a niche but he's generally not one of my top choices, either.

Of the Grey Company is one of the best versions, IMO. I'm a fan of Woodland Emissary in Elves/LoI decks. Maybe Fearless Marksman when it helps to lose initiative or in multi-cultural decks where OtGC is more unwieldy. Haven't used Greenleaf in a long time.

Consider a hunters deck, though. Which would you rather use? Of the Woodland Realm or Fleet-footed Hunter? That's why Of the Woodland Realm is so popular - because he's the best hunter Legolas in the game.

Ya, if you don't care about hunter, please don't run OtWR, but if you're playing [Elven] hunters or FtTH, you better run OTWR.

umm, yeah, I forgot the FTTH and elf hunters thing, but otherwise, if the opponent doesn't run hunter minions, he's rather useless IMO... and if the opponent is running hunter minions then the keyword of legolas wouldn't be very helpful either...

I think the Hunter keyword can play a big role in beatdown decks. My Orc/Uruk hunter deck has a Gorbag who is usually 21, but against a Hunter he is only a 15. I guess it doesnt matter as only NB and I play Hunters block decks.

AP was running them for a while as well, as was Smally and a bunch of people who didn't survive the migration.

Lets face it though, Companion of the Ring is clearly the worst Lego

No way.

Fleet-Footed Hunter has that all locked up.

Companion of the Ring...its a pity they wasted such an awesome pic on such a terrible card. Conceivably you could find a use for him, though.

I think Companion of the Ring is good for non-archery decks, but otherwise no way. I planned to use him in an Elven strength events + telepathy deck, but that's....going through difficulties. XD

I actually use and quite like Companion of the Ring. He's a solid combo with Arwen, Staunch Defender with forestguls on the other side. Plus, I run G for Grand and his resistance bonus helps for that as well.

The way I figure, why settle for a conditional strength 8 when you can start a base strength 9 Glorfindel? It's not like Elves are hurting for strong companions these days.

agree with Socks. Legolas was made for good wounding/archery n' stuff... not for a potential 8 strength, although you could combo nicely him with arwen, G for grand and SoTF... hmmm. YOU KNOW WHAT? REALLY, I don't even care, I never use elves. Long Live Gondor! (with some Gandalf splash )

Start 'em both!

Oh wait, that would suck. NVM.

Incidentally, I'm still scratching my head over where a strength 10 Elf came from. Look at that picture! "Don't give me cheek little Orc, or I'll have to smack you back to the First Age." Fact is, Gil-galad may get more songs, and Glorfindel may send more children screaming with his mug shot, but Orophin SE rocks them all.

;)

Unless started with Legolas, Companion of the Ring. That would kinda stink.
