The goal of the fellowship is to run. Try to start and play Greatest Kingdom of my People (one of the most annoying card ever). Durin must stay alive, try to keep Linnar as well... all the others can die and be replaced so don't be afraid to double-move and lose one or two companions. One thing I discovered over the years is that discard makes the shadow of your opponent weaker as it often loses some key cards, another reason to keep running.

The problem I had with all discard shadow decks I used before was that my opponent didn't care and just ran to site 9. Constantly threatening is the key against that. Even if you have to pay 2, believe me some people are going to stop, especially if you have initiative and the orcs are big. Those Dunland guys are quite interesting as well and you have to try play them first (before any orcs) so the opponent doesn't know if he will face a swarm or a bunch of big initiative orcs and sometimes make the wrong decision by discarding the minion or discarding cards. Dunlending Warrior and Tower Assassin are there because I saw some people using Old Noakes on GCCG and I was afraid to meet him. Once again, even if you think your fellowship is prepared to face discard... keep in mind that some of your key fellowship cards may be gone. Even Frodo, Courteous Halfing doesn't solve the problem because all the Dunland guys must stay in play.

This deck might not discard the whole deck of your opponent, but just enough so you can win. For those who doesn't believe in the effectiveness of discard, I can tell you that this deck definitely gave me more wins than losses... and its quite fun to play for me (but the opponent doesn't always likes it).

I can testify that it works well... the Dunland/Sauron combo is deadly.
