A dud rare  :o? It is a good wound preventing card. Granted the cost to transfer is a bit high, but [Shire] has it's ways of peeling burdens easily . I just happened to get mine in the 4 Hunters starters I bough on ebay. Another reason it is a pretty good card is it is a great follower to get into your [Rohan] horn deck .

Not a dud but definetly not a high dollar rare. A card doesn't need to be worth $20+ to be a good rare card   :uh-huh:.

17RF5-$20
17RF7-$18
17RF15-$18
17RF16-$14
Where do you buy your cards from?
There are several online card stores you can get these at under half those prices.
My dealers price on those cards:
17RF5-$10
17RF7-$8
17RF15-$8
17RF16-$6

Its a matter of looking and not buying direct from Ebay - because these stores have already purchased from wholesale and then double prices for profit. The cards are not actually worth that much. (unless your desperate to complete the set)

Hi all,

Quick question regarding the relative value of 'foil' cards to regular cards.  I generally trade on a rough "Like for Like" basis.  Unfortunately, I've acquired a number of foil cards I don't need from a collection a bought, and have no idea how to value them in terms of 'regular' cards.  My instinct is to value Foil Commons as Uncommons/Non-Character Rares and Foil Uncommons as Rares, but I am not sure how accurate this is, or what a reasonable guideline for Foil Rares would be.

In the end, it is all about what other traders and I are both happy with, but I didn't want to insult other traders with an outrageously high initial evaluation of my Foil Rares worth (and also am interested 'academically' how much foil rares are generally worth.)

Thanks for your advice,

Redgar

The worth depends on what you think its value is worth.
Ive traded many foil rares for straight trades ofr other standard rares that i needed.

To me foil rares compared to non foil rares have no significant value difference. Using them in your deck makes little diff if its foil or not. So as i said - it does depend on the worth to the seller.

If your a foil enthusiast and you must have the foils then your value of foil cards is higher then that of standard cards.
Foil commons arnt worth much at all. Same deal for Uncommons.

When im buying cards here is the gist of what i offer:

Commons: depending on what set there from 5-10 cents standard 15 cents foil
Uncommons: 15-20 cents standard - 40-50 cents foil
Rares 50 cents to $20 for standard (again depending on set) - 50 cents to $$$$ for foils.

On average your rares are worth say $1 each. If its a foil id pay $1.50 at most. someone desperate for the rare foil version might pay $2 - $3.
