Years ago, a few months before Star Wars: Episode I came out, I heard a collector of Star Wars memorabilia saying that he was going to sell off his collection shortly after the movie was released, if it was successful. His reasoning was that when a large franchise is revived, the original products experience a spike in price as people begin buying them up out of nostalgia or whatever. I don't know if this is true or not, but I do know the guy made a killing on his collection after the movie came out.
I have a large collection of cards I'd like to sell off, but I can't help but wonder if I should wait until after The Hobbit is released? Perhaps we'll see a spike in card/memorabilia values around that time.
Thoughts?
