This deck centers around getting Gandalf pretty big. With all of the races being spotted and bearing
Glamdring, he is strength 12, not to mention the events that help him (
Mysterious Wizard,
Servant of the Secret Fire). The other companions are strong as well and can fight if they have to.
A Ranger's Versatility can exhaust a troublesome minion, and with the base archery being usually about 4-6, most minions won't get through to trouble the fellowship.
Power According To His Stature also helps to get rid of big minions and then
Sorry About Everything can get rid of the burdens. The overall powerful companions can take care of anything else that gets through. This deck is really powerful all around and most Shadow strategies will have trouble beating it.

Durin's SecretSpeak Friend and EnterOrc-baneNotice that all the companions (except Frodo himself) have the Frodo signet. We use and abuse this fact with our pipeweed;
Frodo's Pipe can heal anyone here besides Frodo himself, and with as many as five pipes around (or potentially even MORE using the ability of
Gimli's Pipe), that means you can heal up any one of these companions from exhaustion to fully healthy with a single pipeweed. That turns
Greenleaf and a bow-equipped Aragorn into archery monsters, enabling you to use their wounding to the fullest and then heal them up completely later.
Aragorn's Pipe can spread the healing around if you're taking more widespread wounds...and again, with all your pipes out, he can heal your entire fellowship this way with a single pipeweed. Not bad, not bad.
Gandalf's Pipe lets you remove mass burdens,
The Gaffer's Pipe lets you remove lots of twilight (and chokes very effectively when paired with
Aragorn HttWC), and
Gimli's Pipe generates extra pipe spotting when/if needed...and remember, you can then heal Gimli up with
Frodo's Pipe (this time without having to wait until a later phase), so the exerting required by
Gimli's Pipe is virtually meaningless.
The companions also get their normal toys to play with, and fully loaded, there base strengths come in at 5 for Frodo, 8 for Gimli, 7 for Legolas, 10 (and tough to overwhelm with
Armor) for Aragorn, and whopping
12 for Gandalf. You might not win all your skirmishes, but with the healing you'll have at your disposal, you don't have to...you just have to survive until the next fellowship phase.
And the strengths here should be high enough to pull that off consistently. If you DO end up in a bind, though,
Servant of the Secret Fire can be a lifesaver.
Orc-bane can lay down extra pre-skirmish wounding if Aragorn and Legolas aren't enough...and again, the exerting is easily remedied later.
Speak Friend and Enter is a nice bonus, and
Durin's Secret can be a nasty surprise for your opponent if sprung once your pipeweed support system is fully in place.
Fireworks and Bilbo pull back your pipeweeds and/or
cards you want back from discard.
Let's see...massive deck...Fellowship block...wonder what my Shadow side could be?

Nothing too out of the ordinary here. Draw and create twilight like mad with the scimitars (and Scavengers to get them back) and armories, swarm with your goblins, tackle big companions with your heavy hitters like The Balrog and the Cave Troll. Rinse and repeat as necessary each turn to wear your opponent down and simply overwhelm them.
So that just leaves....
SITES: The Prancing Pony Ettenmoors Rivendell Waterfall Mithril Mine The Bridge of Khazad-dum Dimrill Dale Silverlode Banks Shores of Nen Hithoel Summit of Amon HenPretty self-explanatory for the most part.
The Prancing Pony pulls Aragorn, so make sure you bid enough to go first (the burdens should be no issue once you get
Gandalf's Pipe out).
Rivendell Waterfall can change the course of the game if you set up early enough.
Mithril Mine is awesome if your Shadow is set up early with a couple scimitars and armories.
Dimrill Dale is obvious with
.
Silverlode Banks can only help as long as Aragorn is still around.
Shores of Nen Hithoel pairs nicely with all our goblins.

ENTRY #6
Expanded FormatFREE PEOPLES (33 cards):Gimli, Bearer of Grudges w/
The Ring of RingsGandalf, Leader of Men (starting)
Aragorn, Strider (starting)
Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver (starting)
Legolas, Greenleaf x3
Gandalf, Friend of the ShirefolkRadagast, the BrownGandalf's Staff, Ash StaffGlamdring, Foe-HammerGandalf's HatRing of FuryGimli's Battle AxeAnduril, Sword That Was BrokenAragorn's BowSaved from the Fire x4
Sent Back x2
Our Time x3
Watch and WaitServant of the Secret Fire x4
Deep in Thought x2
Fury of the White Rider x2
Starting with Gimli,
Strider and
WoBaS allows you to spot 3 of the 4 cultures you need for
Friend of the Shirefolk. Burn
Leader of Men with
SftF to get
Friend of the Shirefolk,
Sent Back and one other card (usually
Foe Hammer).
With
Foe Hammer and
Watch and Wait, together with Gandalf's high strength and Servent of the Secret Fire, burdens should fall off.
Ash Staff allows Gandalf to wound minions when he wins fights.
The rest of the deck is centred on wounding.
Greenleaf is
the master of precombat wounding, and with extra copies he can easily be healed.
Aragorn's Bow does the same.
Since this deck pumps out twilight,
Our Time seems like a decent trick and gives incredible power to
Deep in Thought and
Fury of the White Rider, giving more pre-combat wounding and incredible one sided condition destruction.
WoBaS and
Gimli's Battle Axe finish off minions in the skirmish phase, at least early game.
Then you add 2 burdens with
Gandalf's Hat to remove all the twilight you've just added, and move again, peeling off the burdens every time you fight.
Radagast gives you the option of tripling for the win and can be used with
Sent Back, and
Saved from the Fire if you need to get more of Gandalf's stuff.

Alright, folks...it's voting time. Three Expanded decks and three Fellowship Block decks...this should be fun.
Vote for your Top 3, in order (#1 first, #2 second, #3 third). You can give comments if you like, but all you HAVE to do is listed your favorite three.
Each first place vote will net that deck's author 3 points, every second nets 2 points, and every third gets them 1 point. At the end of the round's voting, the person with the most total points will be the winner. ALL points will carry over to the next round, though, so the final champion may not win many (or even ANY, potentially) of the rounds throughout the contest.
Please have your votes in by
Tuesday, September 2nd. Thanks again to our contestants for their hard work, and good luck to all!
